Though I've had Pianoteq Standard for a number of years, I upgraded to Pro a few weeks ago, so my upgrade was also free. I certainly notice subtle improvements. I was so impressed with the classical guitar, I purchased it immediately. I'm sitting here right now playing it while reading the forum, just absolutely loving it! My pianos are also sounding a bit sweeter smile
The key articulations remind me of the Roland supernatural expression of non keyboard instruments. Playing slurred notes slides between string notes very nicely.

I upgraded to PT 8, not for the pianos, but for the classical guitar.

I hear it with other VST's, but nowhere near as much as with Pianoteq.

You better stay well clear of acoustics then . . .

Actually, I am going to my sisters tonight. Going to check it out and see, but I don't remember ever having that on an acoustic.

I used Piano V2 by Arturia, switched to PianoTeq 6, because everyone kept telling me how wonderful PianoTeq was, but after a while I went back to Piano V2. I didn't even try Piano V3. V2 works for me, PianoTeq doesn't.

Nope. Pianoteq is still King with the static noise I hear.

When I first got my new DP I was sure there was a problem with the speakers.

Turn out my ears are the problem.

I could hear it ion the acoustic but it was very slight. Same with other VST and times not at all.

Something about the way Pianoteq is put together.

It's to bad cause I would is it more I think.

Paying the price for my years of going out in Dance Clubs I suppose. Fine...Discotheques. Yes I am that old.

First you called it ringing, now you say static. Which is it?

I have tried to explain it before to no avail.

Its sort of like when trying to find the right station on the radio dial or

having a damaged speaker I guess. Ringing is the wrong word to use I supposed.

Wish I could explain it better, but it matters not since no one else seems to hear it.

Ringing is something I've experienced and it's because of sympathetic resonance, which is easy to dial down to whatever level you like. Note that you won't hear it on sampled pianos because samples don't accurately reflect what a real piano sounds like. Whenever multiple keys are pressed on a piano, all the notes that are down can vibrate sympathetically in response to all the other notes, which is something samples of individual notes cannot reproduce.

Static to me sounds like maybe your CPU is being overloaded? Try bringing up the Options (AKA Preferences) window in Pianoteq and clicking on the Perf tab. Play some stuff and see if the Audio Load graph shows any red lines that correspond with the static you hear. Also if you check the "CPU Overload detection" box then it should warn you explicitly if you ever exceed the CPU load. You can try increasing the audio buffer size or reducing the sample rate on the Devices tab or lowering the internal sample rate on the Perf tab as a way of putting less demand on the CPU. It really doesn't take a very powerful CPU (by today's standards) to handle Pianoteq, however, so this might not be the issue but it's the only thing I can think of that would sound like static.

Yes, Ron, which is it? you can’t have it both ways; it either rings or it’s static!

I'm a little bit pissed off at Pianoteq:

1. I bought PT 7 $299 Studio, Pro is Black Friday same price.

2. I bought Studio in June, 2021....

3. PT 8 upgrade is FREE IF and ONLY IF you bought 7 AFTER November, 2022... Thirty bucks otherwise.

(I guess one gets one year of free updates only... Well, HOW ABOUT AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF 8? Like, an email to me or something? Oh.. I did get (or my junk mail got...) "Modartt News" which I never saw. How about a PERSONAL EMAIL: "PT 8 Released, Jeff!" Just like every other cheesy music marketing email. Sheesh.... But then I would have actually seen it, and saved thirty bucks.

4. I guess their "clock" is on Eastern time, because I got cheesed out of the Black Friday sale for a couple of instrument packs that I was (but am no longer) going to buy. Tried to buy 10:00 p.m. PT on 11-29, no more sale (marketing BS said sale was on through the 29th).

5. I sent them an email 4 days ago about 8 upgrade issue .. no response.

Great product, but their marketing sucks. It's no wonder people torrent this app! If I "timed it" better, I'd have Pro, 8, two more instrument packs. That's too much "timing" to ask. If you're gonna play those marketing games, PT, THEN SEND REAL EMAILS ABOUT IT! Not "promo" emails that go in junk folder that nobody sees.

There. I said it.

How did you get Pianoteq Studio for $299? The price I see, is 899€, which is roughly a thousand in dollars, if I'm not mistaken.

You might try to contact them again. Maybe try the web contact form instead of direct email. I think they'll help you out if you explain it to them nicely. I got a response within a day if I recall. I had two licenses for Pro and I contacted them about upgrading to Studio (which is Pro with all the instrument packs) and they gave me a really good price even though there's no official upgrade path. I think if you took the difference in the prices between the two and subtracted the money I had previously spent on additional instrument packs over the years it was still much less than that.

Studio is $899 in the US without any discounts. Pro is $399 at full price and I think was $299 with the Black Friday discount.

But Skyscrapersax said PT 7 $299 Studio, which is Pro with all (at the moment of purchase existing) instrument packs.

Yes, I was a little confused by that.

I meant "Standard," not "Studio." It came with 2 instrument packs. My mistake. They LOWERED the "regular" price of Standard to $269. I paid $299 in June, 2021. That also pisses me off!

I'll try the contact form. Maybe they respond to those more than direct email? I've had that experience elsewhere.

There are just so many "what ifs" here that it's uncanny. Thanks for the tip!

Ok thanks for clarifying, I was about to ask you for the recipe on how to get Studio for $299. cool I understand your frustration, besides now you get three instrument packs of choice with Standard. Thought it had been like that for a long time, but it seems I was wrong.
