It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
I have just recently got back into playing piano in the last year and wanted to broaden my repertoire with some quick songs in-between learning the longer ones. The shorter pieces I have been playing just recently are "Arietta" by Grieg and "Morning Prayer" by Tchaikovsky
Just wanted to know does anyone else have some favourite pieces that are only a page long. Im moreso referring to the best of the best short pieces. Not just any short piece in general.
Also out of curiosity are there any very technical pieces too that are a single page?

There's that perennial encore favorite (not least Horowitz's), Träumerei from Kinderszenen. Also, Der Dichter spricht has been played as an encore.
Chopin's Op.28 Nos. 4 & 6 are also easy and single-page, and well-known.
Hi, Arcturo -- and welcome to Piano World! When you mentioned "one page only", one quirky composition that came to mind was Erik Satie's "Sports et Divertissements". It is (I believe) 20 different pieces, every one of which had to be one page only, because the artistic commission required a drawing of Charles Dessins and the Satie music on each page -- each one a different sport or diversion. Frankly, I think it is Satie at his best!

Other than what’s already been mentioned, off the top of my head: Chopin Album Leaf Basically anything by Rebikov (something like 90% of his compositions are three minutes long or shorter) I’ll add more later if I think of anything else....
Many of the Schubert dances (Walzer, (Waltzes) Ländler, Deutsche Tänze, (German Dances), Valses, nobles (Waltzes) are very short, some consisting of two eight-bar episodes with repeats. (Opp. 9, 18, 33, 49, 59, 67, 77, 91, 127)
They shouldn't all be dismissed as inconsequential; some are beautifully lyrical and touching.
Traumeri...also About Strange Lands and People, both from Scenes from Childhood by Robert Schumann
Im really not a fan of Traumeri, I don't know why its so popular, Ive seen the videos of Horowitz playing it. Its a very emotional piece but soooo boring. For me Fast zu Ernst was the best piece and to me. I first heard it on the movie "Shine". if you haven't seen it, you must!
