I'm trying to back up my PDF files from ForScore on my iPad to my PC, and I'm having a problem following the instructions. The instructions say to attach the iPad to the PC via USB, then find the files in "the File Sharing Panel" in iTunes and go from there. My problem is that I can't find this "File Sharing Panel" anywhere. When I look under "My Apps" in iTunes, the only option I get for ForScore is to delete the app. Can someone help me out with his? iTunes is THE ONE THING I HATE ABOUT iOS, but it appears to be a necessary evil. Thanks!

I have iTunes on my PC, though I never use it, but I see something called Sharing, when I choose Settings from the top left corner of the iTunes window. I don't have any i-device. In this Sharing tab, I can choose to share my library or parts of it.
About the ForScore, do you have the PDFs downloaded to the iPad? If so, can you not access them in the file manager of the iPad, or does the iPad have a file manager? You say iTunes is a necessary evil, does that imply you need it for the transfer? Is simply dragging the files to a new drive, your PC, or even a cloud drive, like Dropbox, not possible?

Sure, iTunes file sharing is a method for managing your files between PC and iPad over the USB connection. But this is not the only method. Consider using the popular cloud services to backup your scores so they are accessible anywhere from any device. They all at the moment give you 5gb or more of space for having an account - 5gb is an awful lot of PDFs. Using Cloud Services Use online storage services to access any scores you don’t have room for on your device, to share scores with friends, or to manually back up your most important files. Getting Started The Services panel can be used to access files in your Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or Box accounts, and can also be used to access any number of FTP or WebDAV servers. Tap the + button in the top left-hand corner to pick which services you’d like to use or to set up a new server connection. Services will ask you to log in as you start using them, while FTP and WebDAV connections must be set up with a name, domain, username, and password up front. Once you’ve successfully logged in, you’ll be able to navigate through your folders and see your files. You can upload, download, move, and delete PDF files or forScore-specific scores, setlists, and backups (4SC, 4SS, and 4SB files). You can also download some kinds of text files (TXT, RTF, DOC, and DOCX) and they’ll be automatically converted to PDFs once they’ve been downloaded. Other file types are greyed out. Downloading Files Tap on a file to download it, and a copy will be saved into your forScore library. If a file with the same name already exists in your library, you’ll be asked to duplicate or overwrite the file, or to cancel the transfer. Tap the stop button in the middle of the progress wheel to cancel a file transfer. To download all files within a folder: View the folder you’d like to download from Tap the Edit button in the upper right corner of the panel Tap the “select all†button along the bottom of the panel (a circled check mark) Tap the “download†button (cloud with an arrow pointing down out of it) to start downloading the selected files Moving Files While in edit mode, tap to select one or more files, then choose “Move†from the control bar. The selected files will turn blue, and you’ll be able to select directories or use the back button to navigate to the desired destination. When you’re ready, tap the “Move†button once again to send the selected files to the current directory. Uploading Files To upload files, tap the upload button in the control bar. You’ll be presented with a searchable list of all the files in your library, and you’ll also see an option in the lower right-hand corner to use the forScore- specific 4SC file format which includes annotations, metadata, links, and more. Tap one or more files to select them, then tap the “Upload†button in the upper right corner of the menu to begin the upload process. If you would like to select all files, tap the All button at the bottom of the panel. Note: iCloud Drive has a very specific framework and interface, and does not currently allow for multiple file selection, so it behaves differently than other supported cloud services. *While we provide access to some third-party services through our app, we have no control over their service or terms and conditions, both of which are subject to change at any time. Please be sure to visit their respective websites if you have any questions prior to signing up or using these service.
Using the Services PabelOn your original device, open forScore and choose the Backup section from the Tools menu Create a new backup file by tapping the + button in the upper right corner of the backup panel Open the Services panel in the Tools menu, choose your account, and select a folder to upload to (please note: iCloud Drive does not support multiple file selection) Tap the + button to view the Upload screen and tap All to select all scores Make sure PDF is selected as the Format option in the lower right corner Choose Upload to start the upload process (note: this may take some time depending on the size of your library) When the upload is complete, tap + again and choose the Backups view Tap to select the backup file you created earlier and tap Upload On the target device, open the Services panel and either log into the same account or use your cloud service’s sharing features to give another account access Locate the folder that contains all of the files and tap the Edit button in the upper right corner Tap the “select all†button at the bottom of the panel (a circled check mark), then tap the “download†button next to it When the download is complete, open the Backup panel Restore from the backup you made (titled by date/time) by tapping on it and choosing “Restore Library and Settingsâ€

I'm on Mac. I'm not sure if it would be the same for Windows. 1) Connect the device to PC/Mac and launch iTunes. 2) Click iPad icon on the top to go to the device. 3) Click Apps in the sidemenu. You should see the following screen. 4) Scroll the right panel down. Not just the section for the app list or home screen but the whole section. You will see File Sharing section. 5) Click on the app you want to copy file. You will see the file list on the right section. Use Save to... button at the bottom to copy the selected files to PC/Mac.

Siros, Thank you so much for your illustrated response! I had made it thru Step #3 on my own, but couldn't find "File Sharing" because it was located just off of the bottom of the screen! Thanks for pointing out that I need to scroll down the entire screen to find it. After finding it exactly where you showed in your illustrations, it was easy to backup my files. Thank you ALL for the responses. FWIW, many of my PDF's are marked up/annotated using ForScore. So I needed the original files, along with their annotations, backed up. Thanks again. I'll try to remember for next time.

Thanks for pointing out that I need to scroll down the entire screen to find it. I got stuck at the same place when I did it for the first time. I ended up spending a long time finding it. I think the UI is somewhat difficult to navigate, very unintuitive.

I used to think iTunes on Windows must have been designed by their MS headhunted geek, but really it's not much better on iPad.
