What movie(s) have the best piano stories or scenes in them?

My favorites are: Amadeus, Immortal beloved and The Pianist.

Autumn Sonata with Ingrid Bergman and Liv Ullmann.

The World of Henry Orient - I don't remember too much about this film, but do recall that Peter Sellers plays a rather nutty concert pianist.

Might I suggest Playing Mona Lisa, starring Alicia Witt. Not a real good movie but at least Alicia does her own playing.

"Ray" (Charles), if that's the criteria. Enjoyable movie though...

QRS used to sell the Legend of 1900 in a version that would get their player systems to play along with the movie whenever pianos on the movie were being played. Kinda neat, but discontinued due to new regulations regarding modifying original content of cds/dvds.

Amadeus (sp?), Immortal Beloved, Impromptu (for the music only).
The World of Henry Orient was a hoot! Peter Sellers (what a comical genius he was) was absolutely "off the wall." I have to rent that movie again.
When I first saw "The Piano," I was so shocked that that woman would sell her body to regain her piano, key by key. Now...well, it's seems perfectly understandable.
Chopin’s music is all I need to look into my soul.

I just liked the image of the square grand being transported into the jungle... and the interaction between the main characters was so twisted and intriguing!
I have to say, I thought Immortal Beloved was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
So sue me!

Another vote for "Legend of 1900." The music in the movie was great! Enrico Morricone composed it, I believe.
Great scene when 1900 and Jelly Roll Morton faced off to decided who was the "hottest" pianist around!

"Five Easy Pieces" with Jack Nicholson never gets mentioned in these movie threads. My favorite scene is when he jumps up on the back of the pickup in traffic and starts playing the old piano up there.
