I'm learning Waltz of the Flowers, October 16 and probably thru next week.

Johan B, I like Papillon. But which piece do you warn against for the dark and heavy mind? Regards, cf

Today I played: Thinking phrases and playing them. Instead of playing notes.
This works for phrases containing faster scale passages i.e. 16th note fragments...finger memory...think the phrase and play it.

Will do some R&B for a while. Give the classical a break.

Searching for music of Pachelbel I discovered these Aria's & variations....very nice 3hearts

Pachelbel; Hexachordum Apollinis, Aria's & variations

Worth playing when you like the baroque period.

Best regards,
Johan B

Today, I was able to pick up a simple and sweet melodic strain that I just learned and played in thirds. To hold it up to the light, turn and shape, and examine it every which way I liked. All while a steady ripple supported it from below. And I was able to do it fluently and at will.
It had no relevance how 'advanced' it was, written by whom, how accepted, what grade, or how well known it was. It just was it's own.
It's now that I am starting to play the piano, just before Christmas 2015. It's the secret that I've looked for so many years, and I finally found out how it works.
This is the essence of where it starts happening for me, and it's the point that I will return to if I ever lose my way later on.

I'm onto the next exercise again and working on Czerny's pet technique introduced even to the early beginner:
Using fingers 4 and 5 of the RH together, with a white key in-between, while playing the melody in thirds. Very logical because of what comes next.
And to make it more interesting, the same strand is played before this with a close fingering, but leading to something different and making that fingering also logical.
It keeps you on your toes.

This is my most favourite Mozart's sonata. Plus, I'm planning to choose this piece for my next exam. Although I don't plan to take another exam until at least 2 more years, it's never too early to prepare :-P

My teacher started me on Bach's Invention No.1--quite a step up from my other pieces, and quite a challenge for a beginner!
