Do you have a preference or advices that may help me choosing ? Yes, first don't do spaces in front of punctuation. Second when looking for a piano, stick with the established piano brands (Yamaha and Kawai). Their cheapest offerings actually sound like pianos. Third don't buy a piano online unseen. Test them out. I'm glad the only thing you noticed about my english is about spaces in front of punctuation. A lot of people are talking about Roland FP30, I'll add it to my "wish list". As you said, I should try them out to feel them and to make my choice. I'll try to find a store that have them all but it sounds that they are quite standard pianos, it shouldn't be hard to find

Your English is fine to me, chevba, it isn't my native language either. There is a lot of talk on the Internet, but as a beginner you should try out as many instrumsnts as possible in person so you can find the sound you like. When unsure about brands and "off-brands", stick to the well-known piano makers. Their digitals work well in all price brackets.

Just to add - the new Roland FP10 has the same key action as the FP30 and FP60 and is a bit cheaper than the FP30 so that might be a good option to check out.
And yes - don't buy the very cheap stuff as IT WILL BE waste of money - you will very soon look for higher quality anyway.
My list to check out in your case as absolute minimum qualitywise (in no particular order) would be:
Kawai ES100/ES110 Roland FP10/FP30 Yamaha P45/P115/P125 Casio PX160

Hi everyone,
Many thanks for your answers. Now I have a good idea about the price range and the pianos that I should try. I am going to do some shops this weekend in order to test it and choose the one I feel the best
Have a good day

Another place in France you may want to consider is http://www.euroconcert.fr/ in Paris. I have no experience of using them, but their prices are quite good - I was looking at the Yamaha P515 and their price (with stand and triple pedal) is currently a bit lower than Thomann's. Interesting site for acoustics and DPs.

Hi everyone ! I went for some shopping this weekend in order to test and buy a new piano. Well, I could test three of them : Casio 160PX / Yamaha P125 and Roland FP30. I didn't like the Casio, it looked like a toy to me. Even if it sounded well, I really don't like the keyboard style and when the guy played on it, he literally crushed the notes and it seemed they had no resistance at all. I could hear someone play Yamaha and Roland at the same time and I prefer the Roland sound. I found that the Yamaha sound was too "electric". I didn't have the chance to hear the Kawai, I had call maybe 10 shops and no one had it... I think I will go for the Roland and I will buy it next weekend since they didn't have the color I wanted Thank you everyone for you advices!

I have an FP30 and prefer it over the Casio and Yamaha also, but mainly for keyboard action. I actually don't like the FP30 sound and actually prefer the Yamaha sound, which once again shows how personal sound preferences are. I do have an ES110 (my wife uses it in our Amsterdam flat), but I think that has worse action than the FP30 that I use, but better sound. I think you are not missing anything, and if you prefer a different sound eventually, then you can always use a VST as I do with my FP30.

Many thanks for your advices You can't go wrong with Roland FP-30. It's a nice and solid instrument. I learned that If I want to buy a musical instrument it is better to get one with somewhat more intermediate-advanced features, higher than my skill level. I believe it has two benefits: - I will have some room to advance and progress... - I enjoy the heck out of it, which is a very positive and encouraging feeling. It lures me to play it more often You made the right choice. You will enjoy the extra you paid! Congrats

Many thanks for your advices Good choice, best of the entry level DP's. Even the new Casio Px-s1000 will not beat the keybed action of Roland fp30, only in design. Action is most important, so have fun with the practice.

Good choice indeed. People would always toss this over that on this forum, but the truth is you simply can't go wrong with Roland as your first piano.
