Hello,
I am new to piano and try to buy a used one for my kid to learn. Can you please help me here? I identified two used piano in Sacramento areas. One is Nippon Gakki Yamaha No. U1 with a series number 507508. However, I could not find out how old it is. The seller bought it (used) from a piano store five years ago.

The other one is Yamaha U1E with a series number 4491460. This seller said he was the first owner.

Both of them asked for $3,000. Which one is better if they are in good looking condition? What is a reasonable price for a used 20 years old Yamaha U1?

Thanks, Julie

more so than age , be concerned over the condition of the piano, from the keys to the hammers and how they hit the strings, to the sound it produces from bass to treble ,to the damper pedal.

hopefully there will be some knowledgeable persons here including techs , who can share info on how to generally spot a good buy or a possible lemon.

age is not really of that much matter with yamahas as long as they are within 30 years or so as long as the condition is above average to excellent.
