Studio Digital Piano - 07/17/17 03:17 PM
So, I am thinking of (at the age of 67) buying a real studio digital piano. I love my PX-5S and will keep it. My budge is between $2500-$4000 us. What would you buy and why?
I am keeping my PX-5S due to the fact that I can take it outside, play with batteries and headphones during the summer. I now have my system setup with studio monitors, pretty good control panel, lots of VST stuff, and am looking for something that can do most of the stuff that the PX-5S does but because I use a DAW most of the time (transferring midi files back and forth to the PX-5S) I don't really need the ability to produce on the SDP itself. Has to be a keyboard as I don't have room in my studio for something in a cabinet and I need to have access to all of the connections easily. I'll be putting in on a stand where I can mount smaller studio speakers like the Presonous 4.5" speakers, and would like to keep the weight at no more than 60 pounds. I am probably being silly wanting to do this since I am mostly going to be using VST sounds, but I can see the older I get the more time I spend doing videos and wanting to compose music for them and I have keyboard styling envy. I am a least a year away from purchasing (like to pay for things in cash) but am seriously starting the search. I might also consider a GP-300/400 since I can use it to control my VST's and the action is interesting but the fit would be "tight" in the studio.
