A new Video / MP3 links collection section on Piano World.
</font>
http://www.pianoworld.com/TotalLinker/index.php

Please check it out, and by all means, add some links.

I'd like to see it become a collection of links to Videos and MP3s of piano / keyboard performances.

It's pretty sparse right now (and I'm having a little problem getting it to recognize the right date/time), but it's a start.

Suggestions for additional categories are most welcome.

http://www.pianoworld.com/TotalLinker/index.php
To Add a Link:
Go to the above link, then...
  • Click "Add Link"
  • Choose the Category
  • Give the link a name (usually the performer and/or piece)
  • Put the full (with http://) link in the Link URL box
  • Write a description.

Note about YouTube type links

If you are linking to a video on YouTube, please copy/paste the "URL" link into the Link URL box, then copy/paste the "Embed" link in the Link Description box.

This will embed the player right into the page.

Links have to be approved before they become live, so we should be able to avoid the idiot stuff.

Why Did I create this section?

Member CC2 and Chopin lover started a couple of threads titled "Holy ******"

The threads contain links to YouTube videos...
http://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/topic/1/16322.html

http://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/topic/2/13809.html

He started these threads because he was impressed by the virtuosity of some of the monster progressive rock keyboard players like Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman.

Of course, others jumped in with links to YouTube videos of other monster players.

Which got me thinking...
We needed a place to collect these links where it would be easy to find them again, and share them with others.

So...

Let me know what you think.

P.S.
I'm also looking at some new live chat software, more on that later.

The problem with creating an index of material on the internet is that eventually the links go stale as the original content is removed or moved.

Good idea otherwise though!

Absolutely,
We can create as many categories as we'd like.

True enough, although I think places like YouTube are pretty safe for quite a while.

Other than that, if we need to host some of the materials ourselves, we can do that (but it can become a bandwidth issue).

Done.

No come on folks, start adding some links!
Add them to the existing categories, or suggest categories to add.

Frank,

1) How do you go back to update or edit a link? or do you have to start over?

2) I just put a URL that links to multiple videos. I didn't see a way to put multiple videos actually embedded in a single link. Is there a way?

How about like this?

I copied the "embed" tags for each into the description field (with a set of

tags between each).

Thanks! But how do I edit that page? I could see writing the pieces in the description, but I would have to change that as I added more videos. I just didn't see a button that puts you into edit mode.

Hmmnn, good question.
I think you have to "register" and then log in to be able to edit.
