I'm stuck with the same one as I didn't want to duplicate one's already taken as well as not having the time and know-how to change it to something outside of the standard choices.

Did I mention I hate change. So don't change you're avatars, they're like trademarks!

By the way I keep getting addressed as Sara on the forums which is fine as short for sarabande but my real name is not Sara. I picked sarabande because I like the dance-form as in Bach's Suites and I thought it made me sound sweet laugh along with the flower. Tulips are one of my favorite flowers.

Just another avatar you haven't seen in a long time - here, anyway!

Oh well, in honor and protest... back to the real party!

Several people have the sama avatar like pianobuilder and kincaid, etc.
Are they all related? Clones? Someone with multiple personalities?

...I asked my mother if I was a gifted child...she said they certainly wouldn't have paid for me.

Copycats (I hate more than one person using the same avatar. It causes me to confuse people with someone else since I pay more attention to avatars than login names. Then I have to double check the login name and that's not ergonomically efficient on my brain.)

Shammy and sarabande

Sorry you two seem to have missed the inside joke. The party ended here in April 2005. It used to be this much fun every day. The party simply moved...

I hate inside jokes on forums anyway and am not concerned with missing out on them. Also I hate it when people don't "stick to the topic", which is about avatars not inside jokes. I was speaking in generalities of duplicate avatars across the forums as a whole.

Ah, but in this case, the inside joke was the avatars.

Sarabande, I share your feeling about inside jokes. It's like walking into a party where everyone is smoking marijuana and laughing at something stupid. Its not fun if you're not high yourself and you don't know what they are talking about.

I'm surprised that Cindy hasn't come back to explain any of this. I was just (gently) yanking her chain by using an avatar from someone she wouldn't want to "emmulate". After awhile, when this thread sinks into oblivion, I'll change back to my old Shakespearean self. Anyway, if you found me where I currently post my avatar is my real self (20 years ago when I was thinner).

I first came here for piano advice and then stayed because of the political (and other) discussions in the old coffee room. When the lot of the coffee room posters were thrown out and the doors closed, many of us left and only came back here for special occasions. I came back because my long piano search was reaching a climax and needed some quick info (which I got, thank you PW!). Then I saw the post on avatars and couldn't help myself. I mean, the joke was just sitting there and I couldn't pass it up.

I forgot all about this thread after my first post! What a funny thread!

Well, FWIW, my remarks didn't pertain to Larry. I was thinking of someone whose name escapes me, something like AWF. He/she posted under one of the standard avatars, some young girl or something, and he/she was in constant squabbles here until shown the door.

However, I will share a couple of avatar variants I've used. First, there's winter:

Then there's summer:

With many thanks to Jodi!

Kincaid,

I'll leave you all to your avatar "reunion" party. You must have a streak of graciousness as you felt indebted to post in my login name thread. BTW, is the guy with the glasses you're avatar in one of the other forums you're in? Enjoy!
