Kurzweil PC2X! Well, probably. I'm on the fence between it and the K2600X, or perhaps the PC2X with the K2661. I'm trying to figure out what would work best with my live rig (which is now down to a Nord Electro 2). The S90 had a lot going for it - great feeling keys and tons of sounds. But the longer I owned it and gigged with it the more disatisfied I grew with the sound quality, especially the pianos - all of them. There was something in the upper mids that annoyed me, and the pianos were too bright with too strong of an attack. Plus, I was starting to get some complaints about the sound quality of the accoustic piano. So - I'm hoping Kurzweil can pull through for me...

Can you wait a little? All the new stuff will be unveiled this week at NAMM.

Good point. I can wait as long as I can continue to borrow the S90 smile I'm looking foward to seeing what comes out at NAMM, that's for sure. The new stuff will probably be at a premium, though, and I'm finding some of this older stuff at post-NAMM prices as a certain dealer is apparently trying to thin down his stock. But yeah, I should wait a week smile

Well, as can happen, just when I had completely thrown in the towel on the S90 we found a killer piano program on it during a rehearsal today. I'm still not enchanted with it overall, but as least we found a really decent piano program smile

More than likely, the new stuff unveiled at NAMM won't even be available for at least a few weeks (if not months). But what you will see is all the lame-duck models blown out at great prices.

I leave for NAMM tomorrow morning...

Well, it won't be the Kurzweil PC2X. It was a nice board and I really liked the action a lot. But for the price I found the sounds to be a little dull and uninteresting. It looks like my new 88-key board will be the Motif ES8. I love the keyboards and pianos on it (they destroy the S90) and there are a lot of other useful sounds. I still don't care for the orchestral sounds, but I have a friend who is working on a sample library that is supposed to be much better. With the ES, Electro and Roland 3080 module I think I'll be pretty happy with my setup, although I'm tempted to add a Triton rack at some point if I can find one used or maybe one of the old Kurz modules that are getting dumped all over the place now...
