help
I am reserching the best finish to use on the black M&H AA .
I have used Laquer in the past but it scratches easily.
I will be doing this soon and havent changed my black finish in a long time because laquer is easy to use.
I want to finish this piano with a finish it and the customer deserves and will last for years.

Thanks

Have you considered catalyzed or pre-catalyzed lacquer? Restorco (888-222-9767) also makes a clearcoat that is lacquer-based, but converts to harder polyurethane after it cures.

Pianolac? Isn't that the water based black. I think Page uses that where you are. My mentor tried it but the humidity being so dry he couldn't slow it down enough or something. Could have been his help. Now he sends his stuff out. AFTER he's done working on it. Far less headaches. He will spray the inner rim.

I Have used lacquer it dries very fast but cures to slow TWO WEEKS .I will try restorco on test piece and see what happens.Im trying to stay away from the plastic look, need to rub down then polish.

On another note M&H "AA" 6' The plate where the "AA" is printed by the bass, there is the letter "X" underneith .I have not seen this before Does it have to do with the string scale or model style????

The pre catalized lacquers that are out now work great. You can get a professional looking job working with it. working with it, its very hard, does not scratch easily
