Hello, does anyone know if there is such a thing as the 2005 Cliburn competetion streaming webcasts available for download? I'm interested in watching the Stephen Beus preliminary recital again, particularly the Barber Sonata. Thanks!

I only know of audio being available. You're looking for video, right?

Is there a way to watch the chamber, and orchestra, performances as well? I can only see how to get all the solo recitals so far.

Great link, btw. Thanks!

The programs are at Cliburn.org; under the competition heading, then competitors, then just click on a name.

Does someone know if there's a way to save on the computer those recordings, so that I can listen to them without having to be on the website ?
It just seems that the Macromedia thingy won't let me do it...

To listen to sound streams of the latest competition you need to be a 'member' as I understand. That's the members only area.

I think there are programs you can download off the net that can save streaming media files. I know some members were doing it during the video streams of the comp.

Try a search, I guess.

I think I remember hearing that the Cliburn doesn't put the chamber/concerto performances online because of copyright/permission intricacies with the orchestra/chamber group members.

i download a few prelim mp3 from there, just type the following URL to get the file:

http://www.dfw.com/multimedia/dfw/news/cliburn/files/cliburnAudio/{name}Prelim.mp3

where (name)=last_name in all lower case.

I'm most certainly a dumb PC user (that's not a revelation), but I just don't get it. I tried with Flashget, and it didn't work for me. What's more, I used signa's link by, for instance, putting something like :

http://www.dfw.com/multimedia/dfw/news/cliburn/files/cliburnAudio/BeusPrelim.mp3

And I'm directed to a 404 error thing...
Could you please be a little more specific (by telling me what I did wrong, for example)?

Thanks.

Ghost, you can read the rest if you WANT to but I think the problem in your URL is that the "B" in beus is NOT supposed to be capitalized, according to Signa's last statement in the post directly above yours.

Bob

"the rest"
404 error means "there's no such page" so you may have the address wrong by a extra "space" or something. You can try pasting your URL into Notepad or some other text editor, and then make 6 or 7 copies and change each copy a little bit. (do you need brackets? and if so is it a " { " or a " ( " or a " [ " or a NOTHING.
Then just paste each of those slightly different urls into your address bar until you hit the right one.

Its hit and miss, but it might work. Hopefully they haven't changed the spelling of the performers' name.

You can figure out the exact link using URLHelper and then download with HiDownload. Hope this helps.
