I recommend checking out demo videos and sound samples on manufacturers' websites. For example Kawai and Casio are also on SoundCloud.com.

Brands to check out could be Yamaha, Kawai, Roland, Casio, Dexibell, Korg, StudioLogic and Clavia i.e. the Nord pianos.

Some people seem to like the Nord pianos and pros seem to like them too. They are the red ones, so they are easy to spot. 😀

How much would you like to spend?

Not "as little as possible", please, but

... "I am comfortable spending $ xxxx, not more."

thanks -

Kawai has the best piano sounds IMO. Some might argue than the Nord Grand has better sounds, but to me it's ridiculously overpriced and more like the Apple of digital pianos. I also listened to what I believe was direct sound from a Nord Piano 3 and was awful.
