This could have gone in any other subforum. Anyhow . . .

Like anybody else, I guess, I need a metronome to study.

I have an old mechanical metronome and I don't like it. Too noisy, difficult to precisely adjust in the faster tempos, feeling that the beat is not so consistent.

So I got a cheapo Korg MA-2 and I don't like it either. Consumes batteries like there's no tomorrow, has tiny multi function buttons not so easy to operate (will the designers of this stuff ever understand that multi function is the opposite of ergonomic ?), cheap plastic, tiny object.

Can anyone suggest an electronic metronome of high quality, rechargeable via USB, reasonably more ergonomic that the Korg ?

Thanks,

Mark.

PS oh, BTW, I do have a metronome on the phone of course, but I am against multi function . . . One device one function is my motto...

Get over your "one device, one function" fetish.

The Soundbrenner app (Android) is cheaper and more flexible than any hardware metronome I've seen.

I have a Korg MA-30. It's OK for simple stuff.

For ultimate flexibility, a drum machine works well. That will require some learning, whether it's hardware or software.

I’m of the ‘one device used for as much as possible’ school

On iPhone: alarm, mail, calendar, reminders, photos, hurricane tracker, flashlight, shopping etc AND metronome. PRO METRONOME

"Music, rich, full of feeling, not soulless, is like a crystal on which the sun falls and brings forth from it a whole rainbow" - F. Chopin
"I never dreamt with my own two hands I could touch the sky" - Sappho

It's ok to be a Work In Progress

Seiko has a premium metronome which looks like a traditional metronome with a physical sweeping arm but is digital; it is called EPM5000. SQ50v is a popular model. The SQ200 has a lot of features.

This site has a lot of metronomes to noodle through. Also some audio files
