Hello,

@marklings, The nomenclature in Noire can be rather confusing.

- The pedal down resonance is the 'RESONANCE pedal' slider;

- The sympathetic resonance is the 'OVERTONES' slider and needs to be explicitly switched on by clicking the little square (solid means 'on').

These are all modeled (not sampled) resonances.

Cheers and happy playing,

HZ

HZ, Alex,

Thank you for pointing me there. I would never have guessed it, overtones of course is another thing from resonance. In any case thank you for that.

I have tried it and frankly the effect you get does not resemble resonance. What you get is indeed overtones.

Try this, play and hold a middle C and then hit on the C above or below that. The C you have kept pressed does not particularly resonate but a whole bunch of very high overtones is fired up. Very strange, unnatural IMO.

Thanks again,

M.

What I found ugly about Noire is 'missing attack bug'. Does your recently downloaded version still have it or did they fix it? See http://forum.pianoworld.com//ubbthreads.php/topics/3183378/bug-in-ni-noire.html#Post3183378

(WARNING: investigate at your own peril. Cannot be unheard, and listening to the 'missing attack' notes may lead to perceiving not-missing attacks as somewhat unnatural.)
