I used to have Casio ctx 700 connected to an amplifier and external speakers. With half the volume on the keyboard and half the volume on the amplifier sound was already quite loud.

I have just got Yamaha dgx 670. I have connected it with the same cable to the same amplifier and speakers, but the sound is very quiet and I need to increase volume on the amplifier to more than 75% to get similar loudness as with casio at less than 50 %.

Is yamaha's output level really so low? Can it be adjusted (can't find anything in the manual)?

There is only one output port on the DGX AUX OUT/headphones. Is there a setting somewhere to manually set it to AUX OUT (again can't see anything in the manual)?

Does the DGX-670 have a single socket for the aux?

If it does, then I can maybe assume that you're using a stereo plug for connecting to the aux socket, and then the other end of the cable that you're using has two connectors ---- one for the left channel, and one for the right channel? Just asking first - as we don't know the configuration right now.

Also - could check this out --- LINK

And what sort of amplifier system is it? (eg. brand/model)

Yrs single socket for aux or headphones and yes that is exactly the cable I am using 1/4 stereo jack to 2x RCA.

Amplifier is a cheap generic Chinese amplifier, something like this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32961451879.html
Combined with Technics speakers it works very well with Casio CTX700 aux out, but much quieter with DGX670 (same cable used as with the casio)...

Thanks witor. That amplifier looks quite alright, especially as it is working nicely for your other instrument.

When your amplifier volume dial is at 75%, what DGX-670 volume level do you need to set in order to get roughly the same loudness as the casio (through the amplifier's speakers that is)?

yamaha 50% + amplifier 75% is around what I was getting with casio at 50% and amplifier at about 40-50%

Thanks for mentioning that witor. At the moment, there will be uncertainty about output voltage levels from both instruments, as well as other quantities - such as output impedance of each instrument for the audio output, and the input impedance of the amplifier.

But - as long as you get nice clean audio coming out from your speakers, such as if you set the amplifier volume dial to 50% (as you do with with casio when connected to the amplifier), and then wind your DGX-670 to where-ever it needs to go ... could be 75% or more ....... then it should be fine ----- as long as the audio just sounds good through the speakers, as in clean, no distortion etc.
