Well, I went and done it. Traded in my used Essex for a new Kawai K300 upright. The tone is lovely and it has a beautiful solid sound.

My Essex 123 was 13 years old. I liked the tone of it, but not as much as the new Kawai K300 I picked that had just arrived at my local dealer. I got to play three new Kawai K300’s (along with multiple new Kawai and Yamaha grands). No room for a grand piano at my house, though.
There were also two used Estonia grands and I couldn’t believe their beautiful tone. Wow. I was like a kid in a candy store.

The tone is astoundingly gorgeous. I'm curious about how Estonia has achieved this. No other piano I've tried sounds like this. Time will tell if this impression holds up. Also curious to learn how consistent Estonias are from piano to piano. Other respected folks here have implied that the Estonia hype is overblown, but I haven't experienced any other piano like this. Congrats on your new piano! Sounds like a wonderful upgrade!

I only owned the Essex for five months. I have grandkids and I have had near misses with little fingers and found I wanted a soft close fallboard.
When I played the new Kawai K300 I liked the solid sound and tone color better, plus the 10 year warranty, and the soft close.

That set of instructions I guess is only for computer. I use PW on my phone (might be weird) and it took me a while to figure out the instructions aren’t for phone. Just copy.

I have the money, but not quite the space, for a K-300, and there's a (apparently) one year old used one for sale on FB marketplace for $8500 CAD ($6800 USD)... Don't know whether it's a great deal or not, and if I should jump on it. MSRP is $12, 295 (I'm assuming USD?) according kawaius website, before any sale/promotions/taxes etc. https://kawaius.com/product/k-300/I understand the MSRP is usually overblown, and most will buy on sales/promos, so how much does one usually expect to pay for one, either used, or brand new on a promotion plus taxes/shipping etc.? I've never owned an acoustic piano before, only digital. I remember seeing a 4 year old K-200 on FB Marketplace last year or so, asking for $4000 CAD ($3200 USD), and man, I would've loved to have grabbed that had I the room (sold quick).

Pianosx, I recommend you re-post to a new thread in the main piano forum. This is a subforum (which doesn’t get much traffic), and new threads also tend to get more pickup than responses to someone else’s thread. Please check out the PianoBuyer.com website; they have a lot of information about pricing, piano depreciation, and other things that you will find useful.
My half cent worth of opinion about the piano is that it does seem like a very reasonable price, but my question would be why someone would be selling such a new piano. Is there something wrong with it? I *think* Kawai is one of the few companies where the warranties transfer (but I’m not positive about this). If so, that’s a plus. My last thought is that if there’s nothing wrong with the piano and it’s in good shape, it will sell quickly (it’s a practically new piano, being offered at a much lower price than what you’d pay at a dealer, and currently supply is low and demand is high).
