Oh wowowowowowow!!!!

It sounds so lush! And that’s just a cellphone recording, right? I bet it sounds 100 times more so in person.

Btw, if we’re talking about lush, that arrangement you were playing is also very lush!

Lovely all around!

Congratulations!!

Beautiful sound. I would not get anything done with that gorgeous sounding piano in the house.

Where you surprised how loud it is or did you expect this level? ☺️

A long time ago, when Larry Fine's ratings used a more complex rating system and the ratings were mostly about quality, specified a ranking order even among the most elite pianos, and less related to their price, Boesendorfer was rated #1 among all the pianos that are now listed in performance groups 1,2, and 3 in the current listing.

Congratulations!

Thanks for sharing! Music is so powerful. I got a little verklempt while listening, perhaps because it reminded me of taking my then 12 year old half sister to see Aladdin. Her mother, my step-monster, has destroyed pretty much all family relationships since my dad passed. Her specialties are gaslighting and triangulation, and she deployed my half sister as her flying monkey (but she's up for the job: diagnosed antisocial personality disorder, mile long rap sheet, etc). Lately I've gotten calls from people asking if I know how to contact her, or can get a message to her, so I assume she's in some sort of trouble again. I haven't seen her in nearly a decade, and don't want to, but it's hard not to lament a life gone so wrong.

Anyway, I hope your new piano opens up "a whole new world" for you! Congratulations!

Thanks so much everybody! I work up this morning, and kind of rushed to the living room just to make sure it was really there. Seriously, I feel like an 8yo on Christmas morning, something I haven't experienced in YEARS. And this is especially impactful for me because I have young children now, and I just live for them to have these moments.

A couple of quick additional thoughts:

I love that the power/audio for the Disklavier system is routed through the leg, rather than a cable that hangs down from the body. The installer said this is the first time he's seen a Bosendorfer with this integration.

That said, with a white rug, the included power cord is still an eyesore, even if I straighten and route to and against the wall:

As with all things aesthetic, it's Apple to the rescue. I remember I have a C13 cord from my old iMac, which is of course white:

It still needs to be tightened up, but overall much better (I know I can get the cables to be invisible now).

And with the electronics powered up, there's an interesting effect visible at night:

Reserving judgment on this one, but I know there are strong feelings about lights/visualizers wink

As adults, we don't get to experience those magical moments quite as often, although it's cool to arrange them for our kids. thumb

Retsacnal, reading this broke my heart a bit. Behind every broken soul is an innocent child with their life in front of them, and more often than not, they don't have a say in how the adults in their lives will shape that life. But you're right, music IS powerful. And I got (back) into piano, after swearing off it is as a child, specifically because I had kids and wanted to play for them. Best of wishes to you and your family!

The cord-through-the-leg is pretty ingenious (I really don't want cords hanging out either).
So is swapping the white cord! thumb
