Hello, I'm looking to use ravenscroft 275 IOS on my phone but I'd like an option of a pad behind it.

I'd really like a fast setup and small footprint / the less hardware and setup the better as this is for gigs with quick setup/teardown time needed. That's why I'm looking at the ios vs the laptop also.

Is loading it into garageband and having ravenscroft on one track and the pads on another the answer or is there a better solution?

Also, I have an irig pro ios interface with audio/midi is that my best connection?

Thx! :-)

Garageband is not great for live performance because you can't have different sounds respond to different MIDI channels, which really limits what you can do with it.

What keyboard will you be using as a controller? Depending on your controller, you might just be able to load Ravenscroft 275 and some other app for pads (not garageband), put them on different MIDI channels, and then use the MIDI capabilities of your controller to play one, the other, or both as you'd like, with independent control over the two sounds (to alter their volumes, or whether they respond to the sustain pedal, whatever).

If your controller does not have those kind of MIDI functions, then you'd have to use an app to host the your piano and pad apps. There are more options on iPad, but on iphone you can use iMidiPatchbay to load your piano app and your pad app (but again, not garageband), and then combine them as you'd like.

A couple of options I can think of
1. Use the bs-16i soundfont player app together with some free SoundFonts (including from my soundfonts4u site). bs-16i includes a built in mixer.
2. Use a audio/midi hosting app like AUM that allows multiple instances of different iOS instrument apps to be mixed together.
I have used both of these methods with iPad/iPhone and they work well.
