I'm an amateur pianist in New York (early advanced level) looking for a singer, violinist, or cellist with whom to get together regularly to learn and play duets for fun. A couple of years ago I used to meet with a soprano every week or two to play songs by Wolf and Schubert, found it very enjoyable and learned a bunch in the process.
What do you all think it's the best way to meet amateur duet partners? I've tried Craigslist to no avail.
I'm not a professional pianist by any means. I've been taking lessons for several years. I'm currently learning Mendelssohn's Phantasie Op. 28 and Poulenc's 1st. Nocturne. I'm keen on playing music in the broadly classical tradition, from Baroque to contemporary.
Some background info on me: I am a 52 y.o. man, gainfully employed, living in the East Village. I have a good enough digital piano in my apartment that we could use, but I'm also happy to meet at another place with a piano.

Hi Pierre I have two different possibilities: First, see if there is a meetup group for musician — the website is meetup.com
Secondly, Juilliard has an evening extension program. See if they will put your request in a newsletter or as a class announcement. Their phone number is 212-799-5000 ext 273.

In addition to what has already been mentioned, consider joining acmp.net (Associated Chamber Music Players). It is basically a listing of other people (along with their skill levels) who are also interested in playing chamber music (piano duets included). The site shows a lot of others in the NY area. Membership is $25 a year.
Another option is to browse facebook groups for NY musicians.

I just saw your post about looking for a piano teacher. You might also try the Juilliard extension program for that as well. I dont know anything about it, except that we have one forum member who takes lessons there and likes it.

Also, look for music clubs in your area. There should be several in New York.

In terms of using online resources to find people to play with, you could try asking on Reddit? You could start with the r/classicalmusic and r/nyc subreddits. There may even be a subreddit for NYC’s music community, but I haven’t looked any farther.
You could get creative if you’re smartphone savvy and use TikTok. I know many here may scoff at the latest hit social media app, but it’s easier to go viral/get attention on TikTok than any other social media form. If you made a couple video clips of you playing and asking for people to make music with, surely plenty of musicians on TikTok in NYC will see you on their FYP (“For You Page,” or just videos that one browses through). I’ve heard/read that people are more likely to see videos from nearby people on their FYP, but I can’t confirm yet.
Almost any classical musician could use a pianist to play with, so if you get the word out in the right avenues, I’d be surprised if you got no feedback.
Maybe some of the NYC residents on this board know where to direct you.
