Looking to get back into piano, haven't played in 15 years or so and I'm running into a mountain of jargon and salesspeak. Is getting an older used piano with the fancier action and superior speakers like a 575 going to be a better option than going for a new semi entry level piano with more basic mechanicals and better tech like a 725.
As I've been so long out of it I no longer feel I have the skill to make an informed opinion on the technical performance of either. The used one I've found is a 3 hour drive away as well which is a fair jaunt for curiosity.
Any advice or opinions would be very helpful

Do you give more importance to the volume and sound impact during live playing, or to the action and fine technical details? 575 has (probably) better sound, while 725 has maybe better action (others will disagree) and modern features (audio interface, vrm modelling).
For the same price, i will always choose a new equipment because electronics have finite longevity. The 725 is not a significant trade off, in my opinion...

I think the action tbh the sound is important but as long as it is decent I suppose it doesn't matter as much. Not too fussed about a lot of the Bluetooth etc, ideally I'd get an acoustic but it wouldn't work with my current house.
I'll be working near a Yamaha dealer this week so I'll pop in and try what he has, I was just a bit worried about getting something that lacks longevity if I get pretty decent at playing (variable damper/reduced note power range (can't remember the right term)).

If you have the opportunity to test-play a couple of pianos in a Yamaha dealer, you will get a good idea. The CLP 575 was the top of the line clavinova model 7-8 years ago (2 generations of models ago). You will get top amps and speakers and the best action at the time. However, while many praise the action, there are probably a few more that consider that action to be unrealistically heavy. On the 725 you get entry-level amps and speakers, and the new action in which Yamaha addressed the heaviness of the previous models, and most agree that is in fact better.

You can test the 575 action on the current p515 (if they have it there). The 725 is the same action of the 735, and very similar (on paper) to the 745.
