Defitintely something fishy going on here. Let me explain.
Over the past few months I havev been eating a can of sardines each day. Sardines are high in Omega 3 - brain food. I have noticed at the same time that my musical progress has skyrocketed. All sorts of things hyave emerged in my playing that I have been working on for years. There is a whole level of fluency I have now that makes me able to improvise of any chords in any key instantlly without getting to an end. Sure, there are a few mistakes, but essentially, after working a couple of hours per day whilst eating this dietery supplement, my progress has sky rocketed and I am now both fast and fluent in all keys.
I am not making this up. Yes it could just be a cpoincidence but I don't believe it's justdown to the practice, although of course eating Omega foods without practice would be pointless. Things seem to get learned much faster.
I wonder if anyone cares to follow the same diet (one can per day) for a month or two, and then report back here? Big ask I know, but should interesting if I can get some others to try. Would be at least be good for your health either way.

Zero Already eat em everyday, 3 cans, so they're already a baseline. The term "superfood" gets overused, but sardines truly ACTUALLY qualify. Additionally, they're lower in mercury and PCBs etc that practically ANY other seafood (short lives, not enough time to accumulate bad stuff in food chain), AND they are about the most sustainable of ALL fish (fast reproductive cycle and huge output of young). If you want to experiment even more, add soaked/swollen or sprouted chia seeds to your diet, also mindbogglingly good for you.

Do you guys have any suggestions for the best brand to buy? They are recommended for low carb diets. I’ll stock up tomorrow.

What am I missing out on...? Perhaps my husband is a secret sardine guzzler, he seems awfully inspired lately in his writing! I wonder where goes to eat them? I mean we often have ,Salmon and Cod for our meals, and I take Omega 3 fish oil every evening for my arrhythmia and other heart problems. I mean I do have the heart to play and work at my playing which I try and do every evening although in winter my psychic energy is often lacking.
So you say if I eat a tin of sardines every day this will be "my cure" Surely one must end up smelling "fishy" It is difficult enough maintaining enough social contact during these Covid days without smelling like a can of sardines.Yet if this enhances my creativity and gives me more days on on earth, I could possibly manage 3 tins a week.

If you have smellybreath,you get less friends, thereforemoretimetopractice. On a more serious note, I checked the omega cod liver oil thing, there is a lot of hype and not much actual cod liver, worth a google

What would be interesting is for pianists who practice at least half an hour per day, and do not currently take sardines or omega supplements to commit to eating the fish daily, for say two months, then report back with their subjective views of their progress. Of course this would not be a proper scientific study, but it would be interesting for us here

In old days Cod liver oil, can from actual cod liver, packed in barrels by gutters of cod, with brine. It’s no longer done this way,except high end expensive ripoffs

Yes, that’s what I am doing, sardines on toast in the morning. Works out as the price of a lesson per month.

I don't eat sardines, but maybe I should start, after reading this thread. I've eaten them in the past, but not made a habit of it.
I do, however, eat fresh salmon about once a week. I particularly like the bourbon marinated salmon, but I don't drink bourbon, or any alcoholic beverages. Both my grandfathers were bad alcoholics, and I hope I didn't inherit the genome (no evidence of it so far).

I might add that I used to eat fish once or twice a week with no observed Only the daily tin, that has made a difference. My size is large, so a smaller person say 9stone, would only need half a tin per day.

Would be at least be good for your health either way. I don't think everyone should indiscriminately start consuming sardines. It looks like they can have a negative impact on people susceptible to gout or kidney stones.
