We have an acoustic upright Yamaha locally for sale. The serial number dates it to 1999, but the model shows "MP3". It looks like a U3. Anyone ever heard of an MP3 model?
Thanks,
Marcus

I owned one from 1999 to 2008. It's an U3 with silent mechanism.

Thanks! What did you think of it? Is the silent mechanism useful? They are asking $4500. I'm going to check it out tomorrow. (Like I need another piano haha)

Funny that a Google search doesn't really bring anything up on it.

Marcus

Well to be honest, I did not like U3 very much, mine did not hold tuning well so I was happy to see it go. Silent mechanism was a useful, but I think that tech has progressed a lot during last 20 years.

Thanks for the opinion! It's at an estate sale, so maybe I can pick it up cheap if it doesn't sell. The only downside is the moving!
