one of my pupils has to fill in a gap of 7 minutes orso for his 3rd round in a competition, it shouldn't be romantic, so: can someone suggest a 7 minutes piece of not romantic music? (I suggested already the following: Debussy-Ballade/ Ravel-Une barque/Scriabin-Valse op.38/Beethoven-Andante favori/etc.) The main course is Liszt: Mazeppa, so some counterpoint would be welcome.

From your saying "not Romantic," I was surprised to see the fr'instances that you mentioned, except for the Beethoven, because I wouldn't think those are enough "not-Romantic."

Main things that come to my mind for such a thing:

-- Any Bach Prelude & Fugue from WTC
-- A single Mozart or Haydn 1st or last movement, if single movements are allowed
-- Beethoven "Rage Over a Lost Penny"

I am looking for some more not so overplayed pieces that last about 7 minutes but are not 'romantic' in the musical sense, Ravel would suit, but my invention stops a bit, call it exhaustion or something else, I don't seem to have the spark right now, sorry

Mozart Adagio in b minor

Mozart Rondo in a minor

If it can be two pieces:
2 Scarlatti Sonatas
2 Debussy Preludes

How about movement(s) from a Bach suite?

Bach - English Suite - Prelude + Gigue
French Suite - Allemande + Gigue
D major Partita overture,
E minor Partita toccata, etc.

Mozart: Rondo in D, K485

Bartók: Romanian Folk Dances

I would have said that too, except it's way more than 7 minutes.

(even though I'm not sure it fits the bill of "not Romantic" despite being Mozart)

This may fit the bill: Bach Italian concerto transcriptions BWV 972-987. They are about 7 minutes and not Romantic.

we (I) have made a choice: Une Barque sur l'Océan, very Liszt-ish, but also not very 19th-century, more modern in style and with different technique, also a very different character, thank you all.
