Apropos internet security, regardless of PW - just a reminder that websites do get hacked and it's better to take precautions now than be caught vulnerable later. I recommend checking whether your email address and/or password has been compromised. I used https://www.avast.com/hackcheck, there are other similar free services.

Quote
A villainous hacker can do a lot with a simple email address.

They can try to “brute force” their way into any number of online accounts by using a list of commonly used passwords, giving them access to your digital life if yours isn’t strong and unique.
They can add your email to a spam mailing list to earn a quick buck.
They can set up a fake social media account for you and trick your friends or family into downloading malware, or giving them cash or information.
They can send you phishing emails to trick you into downloading malware that could steal your data, or hold it ransom for money.
Or they could sell it to other hackers on the dark web who’ll do all those things instead.

Why don’t you send your suggestion to Frank?

Your pay grade here is equal to everyone else’s. Time to click ‘PM’

Everyone probably already knows this, but it's really easy to update the theme to something other than the default. It doesn't address the other issues but it helps if you're not a fan of the retro look.

btw I'm a software/web dev by day, I would be willing to donate some time to assist the forum owner with some of the low hanging fruit (e.g. https/cert stuff, UBB PHP stuff, etc).

What a generous offer! Below is a link to Frank’s PW profile. Click on ‘private message’ and let him know . Don’t be surprised if it Takes him a while to reply

Those who worry about security should discard their phones and disconnect their computers from the internet. Computer Security is an oxymoron

This incorrect belief is self-fulfilling-- it leads to indifference to information security, which is the root of a substantial amount information security problems.

No system will ever be 100% secure, but there is a wide gulf between a system being reasonably secure, and one having lots of gratuitous vulnerabilities.

Not to a determined person. The most secure systems are regularly breached. Piano world is not a high target. Security through obscurity also is a thing

If this is your personal opinion that is fine. What is not fine is posting ridiculously uninformed comments to a public forum.

The post-mortem analyses of major breaches that reach the public domain usually include one or more lapses where some basic best practice(s) of information security were not followed. What is your evidence that the "most secure" systems are breached regularly?
