Have you ever seen or tried it? I'm curious.

Orchestras use sound reflectors in many concert halls. They're placed above the players, reflecting sound back into the audience (rather than having it dissipate in the space above the stage. They should work similarly underneath a piano.

. . . But £700 for a bent piece of acrylic plastic?

That seems a bit excessive.

Extremely expensive.

Anyway the concept is interesting. As many people reports that the sound the pianist listens is quite often very different (and worst) than the one the piano projects around, maybe placing a mirror or something under the piano helps the pianist to get a more pleasant sound.

An oval wall mirror, propped up with a floor cushion under the piano, made a discernable difference with the lid down. The mirror will go back to its place on the wall in the morning!

Wouldn't this bit of acrylic deflect sound right back to the underside of the piano and to the pianist's feet?
