Hello!

I am just starting to learn piano and I am trying to buy a piano. I am not too fond of Yamaha or Kawai for different reasons. Yamahas from 1980s are selling for over $3,000 not from dealers but on FB or Offerup around me, yikes. I was reading posts here and many mentioned that pramberger is a great piano, and someone is selling JP Pramberger Platinum Performance Series(Model: JP116FD, Serial # IKKIU1625). They say it was bought 1 year and 9 months ago for $5,300 brand new, selling for $2,500 now. I could not find the serial number anywhere on google so I am wondering if anyone knows about this piano here! Thanks in advance!

Have you read this write up in the PianoBuyer?

https://www.pianobuyer.com/brand/pramberger/

Apparently the JP116 is no longer being built. That doesn't mean that the piano you are considering wasn't "new" when purchased by the current owners. Be sure to have a piano tech check the piano out for you prior to purchase, just to make sure it is in top notch condition. If the piano was built within the past 5-6 years, the $2,500 asking price seems reasonable. The Samick JP Platinum Prambergers are very solid consumer grade instruments.

Wish I could help you with the serial number.

Sorry I don't know about this particular piano. Pramberger is a well known piano design engineer who did some work with Young Chang. Now they are using his name as a branding. I'm not sure if the pianos bearing his name are his design. Samick Corp. took over the Pramberger name around 2005 and from 2010 has been producing the pianos in Indonesia. I'm not sure of the age of the piano. Usually you can look up the age through a serial number search.

From the blog below, it seems that serial number IKK... would be from before 2012, so was it really bought brand new 1 year 9 months ago? grin
(Captions on the photo say "I" stands for Indonesia, which is where the piano was built, and letters KL... correspond to 2012.)
