Hi guys,

I've taken up the task of fixing a Yamaha C5 at a relative's house and would appreciate some help identifying the best way to move forward with a broken wooden part underneath the piano. It looks like a previous mover ran the piano over something when moving, and the wooden beam/mechanism for the sustain/middle pedal got broken pretty badly.

Here's a picture:

Ideally, I'd like to order the correct part from somewhere that carries it, but have no idea what the part's called... I found some other threads that talk about damper lift bars and hinges and combed through the catalog at vandaking, but didn't find anything like this.

Alternatively, I can DIY cut and install a piece myself - not ideal, but doable as long as I find out what the dimensions are supposed to be for the Yamaha C5.

Thanks!

If it is not gray market, you might be able to order a set of sostenuto pedal trap levers from Yamaha USA.

On occasion, even if it is grey market, they will accommodate. Whether it would be an exact fit or not is questionable though.

Check with piano technicians in your area who install player systems. They have to replace these parts with parts that work with the player systems. They may have some old parts laying around.

Thanks for your replies! I will go through these avenues and see whether Yamaha or any local technicians can get this in stock.
