I'm getting a Kawai GL30 soon and looking for another digital piano that the wife or I could play while the other is using the GL30.
It would be nice to play duets with both instruments at the same time. So having a digital piano that could keep up with the volume of the grand piano would be good.
I could potentially swing the $$$ for a ca99 but just wondering if that's overkill because at the end of the day I have a grand to play anyway.
Considering maybe a kdp120 instead?
Or maybe an es920
What would you recommend?
Thanks

What’s your approximate budget? Something like the NU1X might be close in price to the CA99, I’m not 100% sure.

Nu1x is $8000, ca99 $5000, es920 $1800 or $2300 with cabinet and pedals, kdp120 $1700
I definitely wouldn't want to spend above $5000

If it were my decision, I'd go for the ES920. But that just tells you where _my_ trade-offs lead me, not where _your_ trade-offs lead you.
To make a DP as loud as an acoustic piano, get a pair of powered monitors with total power of 150 watts or more. That's about what Yamaha puts in the N-series hybrids, and the Kawai NV10 has 135 watts.
Note (of course) that making something as _loud_ as an acoustic piano, doesn't mean that it will sound as good.

Es920 sounds like a good recommendation. That's what the piano shop owner told me to go for with the gl30 too. Seemed like he was a pretty honest guy, told me he prefers the gl30 over the gl40 and the ca99 over the nv5. So obviously not trying to get me to spend more money.

Why would he like the cheaper model over it's more expensive bigger brother? Makes no sense Maybe he knows that's where Ur budget lies Not many people will say a ca99 is better than an nv5 Es920 sounds like a good recommendation. Nu1x is $8000, ca99 $5000 Ridiculous. Here in Germany both models cost almost the same.

I'm guessing these are USD not AUD prices also these are all taxes inclusive.
So a nu1x is $7000 AUD/ $5137 USD
A ca 99 ebony polish is $5800 AUD/ $4256 USD

He also said he felt the GL30 had a lot of effort put into it because it fit a specific place in the Kawai line up, but that the gl40 was a bit out of place and didn't receive as much effort as a result and to his ears didn't sound as good.

My apologies for posting something so off topic, but every time I look at the title of this thread, I want to reply with: "a nice Pinot Noir"!
