From the title, I thought it was going to be literally underwater. It was under some light rain. :-)

I remember a David Frost (chat show) program from the distant past, where a violinist played Vivaldi underwater. Everything was under water, but I always thought the violinist missed a trick and should have played Handel's Water Music instead.

It wasn't the 'Moonlight Sonata', it wasn't under water, it was absurd, it has to be ignored.

Slightly off topic...

Anyone remember that during the early days of video tape tricks (late 1950s) on broadcast television there was a comedian named Ernie Kovacs who did an underwater cigar commercial for Dutch Masters cigars.

The viewer heard his trademank Hadyn string music playing as he faced the camera, took a cigar out of his breast pocket and "lit" it.

Then he blew out a mouthful of milk or other white liquid into the water surrounding him.

A short piece of amazing brilliance.

By the way he referred to television as, "A medium rarely well done."

Just wondering how these things still can get more ridiculous, embarrassing and absurd...

While many of us "traditionalists" might be mocked for not moving "with the times" to accept new ideas (this is an idea?), the key word in your sentence is "embarrassing." To me, this was embarrassing in the extreme.

Regards,
Just looked over what I wrote. I think what's missing here is also the word "humiliating"

Close enough. I bet Beethoven himself would find it ...... "interesting."

Stan Freberg had a hi-fi segment on his radio show (Dr. Hi-Fi, or something like that) where you were supposed to guess what the sound effect was. One of them was Benny Goodman playing "Oh, Danny Boy" for King Farouk six feet underwater, and the next one was King Farouk applauding.
