I own a Yamaha CVP 307 which is in perfect shape except for the screen that is almost useless because there are a few broken lines in it (unfortunately, I left the screen on for a couple of months a few years ago, so I discovered that the screen was no longer properly working when I came back from my holydays).

The substitution of the screen would be very expensive (at least 500 hundred euro), this is why I was wondering if I could use an ipad to substitute the screen. Could I use an app for the ipad connected to the usb port of my Yamaha cvp 307?

Does the firmware in the piano support exporting the screen image to an external device through the usb port? (Your piano is old enough that I'd be rather surprised if it did, but I suppose anything is possible.)

If it does then it's probably a feature that's mentioned in the manual, so that's the first thing I'd check.

If it doesn't then what you want to do is likely not possible without doing some kind of a custom rewrite of the piano's firmware which is likely beyond anything you would want to tackle or pay for.

A better approach would be to take your piano apart and dismount the broken display screen. Then see if you can find a replacement screen that has the same pinouts. The chance of finding one is probably slim but greater than zero.

Since the CVP307 has a video output, it can be displayed on the screen by connecting a monitor or TV. The terminal is a video composite, RCA type.
I can't connect to the iPad, but why not give it a try?
