I mentioned in another thread that I'd post pictures of our latest Piano Buddies event at my house on Sunday July 18th, when I got them. So, here they are.

We had a great time, and everyone was relaxed and laid back. Some great piano music for sure, and Laurie and Sam played a duet on the clarinet and piano. Sam and Paul played a 4 hands duet on the Yamaha C7.

We all had a great time for sure!

Sounds like fun. You've got quite a few people in the group. How many pieces were played?

How did people choose which piano to play?

No, each participant selects the piece/tune/arraignment/song they want to play. On occasion, two buddies might select the same piece or tune, but we hear it from two different perspectives. We do not know ahead of time what the other is going to play, usually.

Any and all genres of music are welcome. Otherwise, I would not be welcome, because most of my playing is non-classical, oldies rock-n-roll, blues, pop, country, Gospel or my own original songs and arraignments. Last Sunday I played my version of Suwannee River Boogie, and one of my original blues songs, "Wishy-Washy Woman".

So, there is some musical diversity among the group, for sure.

And, yes, you are welcome to come next time!

You are correct, not all the attendees played the piano. Some individuals participate in the evets because they like the music and the comradery, and are friends or acquaintances of other members.

There was one other Piano Buddy member there who chose not to perform this time.

I have seen as many as 25 or more Piano Buddies at an event, and as few as 6 or 8. The COVID-19 pandemic did curtail the attendance to an extent. The events are usually held monthly at least 10 months out of the year.

Hi, Dr. ShiroKuro.

Since I was the host of the event this time, I got to play first. So, I played one tune on the Baldwin R, and another on the Yamaha C7.

That kind of set the stage for the group, and they all played one piece on the Baldwin R and another on the C7. Both sounded good, and even better when listening to someone else play them!

I guess most all pianos sound better from a distance, than sitting at the piano bench playing.

I'll look forward to having you and Mr. ShiroKuro attend and perform one of these days!

Yes!!! I'm sure we'll get out that way eventually, we are kind of waiting till we buy a new car to make any longer drives -- but wouldn't you know it, there's a shortage of new cars too! Good grief!

But when we do, I'll be sure to prepare at least two songs so I can play both of your pianos too!

We had a lot of fun! The Rickster is too modest - he plays and sings really well. And writes his own songs! It's cool to have two grands to play. They both look and sound great!

I'd definitely consider attending that! (If it's open to everyone.) Have been trying to find a piano group in the South Florida area. No luck so far. I may have to start one. :-)

I sold the old Bechstein. In its place is a 1969 7 foot 2 manual Morley harpsichord - that I am constantly working on. It's more work than the old Bechstein ever was - an unending project...

I actually thought about you and Cunningham piano a few weeks ago, when my sister and I visited our older brother who lives in northeaster Ohio. We drove up to Ohio and spent a week with our brother and his wife, and had a great time.

As we got near our brother's place, we saw a sign on the interstate that said "New York City 400 Miles". I thought to myself, well, we could visit NYC while we are here, and maybe Philly, and Rich Gallissini's piano store.

My sister and I had a great time visiting with our brother, and we got to see some things we've never seen before, in real life, like the Amish driving the horse and buggies down the highway. My brother lives near Kinsman Ohio, in Amish country, near the Pennsylvania border.

Maybe one of these days I'll have another opportunity to visit Cunningham Piano, and play some of your pianos, if you allow country-hicks like me to visit your shop!

I belong to another group (Georgia Musicale Group) that meets at Pianoworks in Duluth Georgia, on the north side of Atlanta. Excellent pianos, excellent concert space. But it's a long drive for me...

Piano Buddies is in what we call the southern crescent, the string of towns south of Atlanta - we go from house to house, except for one trip to Columbus to visit Sally Philipps piano business.
