The book tells me it can be done without the need of an audio- in cable from the computer headphone output. It also tells me the sound is cleaner than with "audio in". So I try to actually do it Audio loop was already set to "on" Yeah, you guessed! Nuthin' happens. Zilch. Bugg*r all. Have I been had? Was this instrument conceived on April 1st? Go on. Tell me the worst . . . . What. Have. I. Done. Wrong? Of course we must begin with obligatory statements: “have you contacted your dealer” .... “do you have the most current firmware in your 515” and always remember “ i’m just trying to help the team win, no player is bigger than the game ...” 😉 In your OP, it seems you have a host - pc or smart device connected via usb to your 515 via “printer cable” and want the audio on that host to play through the P515 speakers. According to page 85 of on-line manual, - https://usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/6/1204086/p515_en_om_b0.pdf#page85- specifically the notes on the right of page 85- “ The playback sound of an Audio Song (page 44) is also output to a computer or smart device when this is set to “On,” while the sound is not output when this is set to “Off.” - suggests you want loopback off so that the sound is not played by the host, but instead played by the 515. As to your second post in which you mention midi, i do not (yet) find anywhere in the manual where it discusses midi playback over USB. So far, the only midi playback info is on page 80 using conventional midi cables......?

Have you downloaded and installed the Yamaha-Steinberg USB Driver? This is required for PC. And once installed you need to select it in whatever software you are running your VST. My Yamaha P-121 works with both PC (after installing the driver) and works natively (no driver required) for iPhone/iPad. Works like a charm, just plug and play with the single USB cable for both midi to the PC or iOS device and I receive audio back to the keyboard to use with headphones or internal speakers. Its one of the best features of USB Audio equipped keyboards. You will need to turn Local Control to Off to hear just the VST on your keyboard.

After reading through the manuels, I'd picked up on this but forgot in my endeavours to understand which page I was supposed to be reading . . . I d/l it last night, to try out today. Thx everyone!

Has somebody used USB for audio in on any Yamaha? Yes, I plugged my tablet into it using USB TO GO, selected it as an audio device and it just worked.

On my Mac you just connect it and turn off the internal sounds and adjust the volume you your liking. Some apps make you change the output to the Digital Piano, but typically it’s just automatic.

I believe a Mac does this automatically anyway; strage since there's a Steinberg Driver for Mac as well as windows 10. But for me, having tried it, it turns out to be . . The download with a downside. !0ms latency at best. And it changed the vel curve requirements. Plan A scuppered! Now i can enjoy the rest of the day . . .

Any advance on 10ms guys? Going, going . . . . .last time of asking. . . I connected my yamaha ew300 to my pc, to try out the pianoteq demo, and really the latency is not noticeable. I cant imaging that p 515 has worse latency than I get, as it has an onboard sound interface as I understand it. I

The 10+ ms number is real, Skropi. Does it affect playability? I am asking for educational purposes, to know whether or not to consider pianoteq and its brethren.

Wow! I will say that I get a lot more latency through the 121 than using the computer outputs. Some of that is definitely a sample rate issue which befuddles me as to why. Maybe I should try and download those drivers to see if they help.

I was all set to buy a shiny new CLP725PE; I like the minimilstic look, but it has no audio input. The 735 of course has, but it's sooooo ugly! I just couldn't tolerate such. Happy days .

Shirley, the CLP720PE has an audio card (audio in/out), right?
I mean, even the YPT360 has a built-in audio interface, and this instrument is just a couple a’ hundred bucks…..

Joe, I understood you installed Yamaha's driver. Here it created a "Control Panel" icon on the menu panel. It allowed me to adjust the buffer length and mode for the ASIO driver. In my case, I installed it for AG-06, but I think it is the very same driver for all Steinberg based products.

Any advance on 10ms guys? Going, going . . . . .last time of asking. . . There should be a control panel where you can decrease the buffer size or increase the sampling rate. Either of those should reduce your latency.

Either of those should reduce your latency. Once the Steinerg is selected, the choice of buffering has gone. I'm stuck with 512 or whatever. THEY tell me if you did reduce this figure, you'd get pops and crackles and general instability. I've got rid of Steinberg. Might be ok for the future, but at this moment . . .NFG!

One software that has very low latency for me is BS-16 for iPad. @JonkyPonky has uploaded presets he’s made for the P125/121 that might work on the 515 as well. I literally don’t detect any latency. Lately I’ve really been enjoying the c7 Salamander piano and the Chateau Grand on that app. All involved did a superb job with them.
