I would like to post an old recording of my performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto Jeunehomme years ago at the Berlin Philharmonie. This was just before I started studying.

And with such ease -- which of course is how Mozart should always be.

You received one of the longest ovations I have ever seen -- totally deserved.
In fact, my wife was overhearing it, and asked if I've ever known of a longer one.
I'm not sure I ever have.

By the way, here's a little quiz of sorts for anyone else who is looking:
There is an odd tech-ish aspect at the beginning of the piece.
Kind of funny actually.
Actually to me it's extremely funny. I truly literally "LOL'd."

Do you mean the "technical adjustments" that had to be made by both the pianist and conductor because the stagehands apparently didn't get the memo?

Mine is about the video person.

What about the video person?

I was referring to the pianist's need to adjust the position of the bench and lower the piano's music rack and the conductor's need to adjust the position of the podium and music stand.

The video person had no clue about the unusual and extremely noteworthy 'protocol' of the opening of the concerto.

True - classical concertos typically don't involve the soloist in the exposition.

Delightful playing. Too bad the sound quality is so poor.

Yes -- and (you probably know this better than I do) was this concerto maybe a historic first for such?
It's the earliest that I know of.



I kind of like that.
.....because it gives it an old-time feel.
Kinda like black-and-white movies.

It's a good guess that it's not digital (it shows a year 2000 date stamp) -- which, y'know, some folks believe has advantages.
Some even say that 'vinyl' is the very best, for things like resonance, warmth, and nuance.

I think the audio here shows especially the slow movement to great advantage.

Same here. And as far as I know Mozart only used this innovative deviation in form one time.

Yes -- presumably because he was bummed out over the video guys never getting the hang of it.

True - he was clairvoyant and saw the writing on the wall........

However, it didn't stop Beethoven from doing something very similar in his final two piano concertos.
