My NV10S will be delivered in a few days... the dealer recommended Roland RH-300 headphones to go with it. Anybody any experience with those?
I never had closed headphones, always relied on the Sennheiser HD-600, but now with people in the room watching TV I'm looking for closed headphones that keep the room noise out. Any suggestions?

Congratulations!

As for headphones, my favorites probably are the Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro 80 Ohm. Be sure to at least consider these.

Cheers and happy playing,

Rroer, The action will make more noise than the open headphones. You can’t beat the HD600’s. IMO

Edit. I just read your post again. So you mean to get closed headphones so you can’t hear the tv?

Yes, that’s right. Maybe I would use the HD600 when I’m alone; but we live in a small studio, so I also need closed headphones when my wife is on the phone or watching TV.

Doesn't Sennheiser have closed back headphones using the same earcup design as the open back HD5xx and 6xx? If you like those already, then that would be my first go-to to try out their closed back versions.

I bought a pair of Sony MDR-7506 in 1999 and I am still happy with them... perfect headphones for me.

Bedankt! I ordered the DT770 blind; it was recommended in several places.

I found my DT770 250 Ohm version being very unnatural for digital piano playing - hollow and unpleasant, probably due to them being V-shaped. I would only recommend open-back headphones for digital pianos but if it must be closed-back, the DT-770 would not be on my list. But people are different.

This is one of the proper use cases for closed phones.

If not for these reasons I'd suggest open phones. They're so much better.

Also ... why not have your wife wear headphones when watching TV? Then there'd be no background noise to distract you at the piano ... regardless of whether you wear headphones or not?
Just a thought.

Which version did you end up buying? I also have the 80 ohm version and it took some getting used to but I like it so far. I'm still waiting for my NV5s though, we must have different dealers... laugh Gefeliciteerd met de NV10s!

Hello,

Yes, I've also heard that the 250ohm version is less pleasant, but I cannot report from personal experience there. The 80ohm version definitely is the sweet spot.

Cheers and happy anticipation,

HZ

PS NV5S -- Tjongejonge, another one of those nice hybrids in our kikkerlandje, Enjoy!

I was lucky to find the NV10S in Muziekhuis da Capo, close to Groningen city.

Hmm, you seem to be quite the lucky fellow…….

Based on what I read ‘round here, we’re in for a very long wait, you know, because the canal…..

And if you do spot one in the wild, the wait will be long because “pianos” have been classified as an endangered species…….

On top of that, if they manage to catch one in the wild (without endangering its offspring), they want to charge you 17K for an N3X, you know, ‘cause the canal, endangered species, and global warming…….

And on top of that top we have people showing up ‘round here telling us that we need to support our local dealers……..

………..IMHO!

Peter I think you need to change to a decaffeinated brand of your beverage of choice 😉

All these years playing and I still consider myself a novice.
