I just tuned the smallest grand I’ve ever seen. Perhaps one of you may have encountered one of these. It’s a 1929 73 key Waltham 3 foot 9 inch. 48 inches wide. Rebuilt 20 or so years ago including new strings, pins, hammers, and dampers. I was also beautifully refinished. It was the owner’s mother’s piano to be sold along with many other nice things. I told her I would run it buy my forum buddies concerning it’s value. I told her anywhere from $1500 to $3000, but I think it may be worth a lot more to the right person. Please let me any thoughts. Thanks

Or a great deal less, if the right person can't be found......

I’d guess it’s not worth even that much…unless you can find perhaps a doll house collector who specializes in 2/3rds scale items. Who/where is the target market for a piano like this, nowadays?

Is this a value for sale or for insurance?

I have run across one or two pianos of about that length in the distant past, but with 88 keys. They were actually fairly nice, amazingly. One was a Janssen, and I cannot remember much about any others.

The owner is an only child and sole executor of her mother’s estate. She remembers how her mom loved to play this piano right up to the end. I encouraged her to keep it.

To me this sounds really cool.

If it sounds good then perhaps is an alternative to electric keyboard. Could be a choice for an apartment dweller. Would like to see pictures (of course!)

Unusual rare items of high quality will always find a friend.

This will show you how to upload to the photo section:
http://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/2248307.html

I have had incredibly poor success posting the actual picture onto a thread. It works sometimes, mostly not. Even following others instructions to a ‘T’ it does not work. A link to the picture works ok. I actually have never seen a blog site with such problems to post a photo (ok, gripe over)
