If it was a matter of settings why didn't Modartt do it themselves?

Of course you know the answer. Adjustments won't fix a piano any more than lipstick will beautify a pig.

Quite frankly, I think Modartt consistently messes up their presets, but with the right tweaking, these same presets can be made useful. In recent updates this inherent preset problem has lessened though, at least in my opinion.

Hahahaha... does that qualify as "bashing", Mac? Just wondering... smile

I’d say this is not only bashing but also insensitive to pigs; I personally know some pigs that look great in lipstick and high heels, and to imply otherwise is rude!

They don’t all look the same, pigs, they’re not all ‘food’; as a matter of fact, many of them are hard-working pets, veterinarians, and even vegetarians, so I take offense that y’all would be so insensitive to pigs 🐽 (they prefer being referred to as hogs, but why even bother with y’all insensitive people; go on, call them all pigs).

Shame on you!

I second the day to day change in hearing. Heck I even notice that I can hear better in the morning, even being at home all day. I suppose that's evolution at work and I am going against it.

I like up close sounding pianos. I dislike distant sounding pianos, as if in some sort of concert hall. I’m using Garritan’s CFX close mic sample “Player” set. How does it compare to the Pianoteq sound?

First off, you need to allow people to access the content. Access is denied.

Also, google drive links only work within google's applications (gmail etc.).

You are not the first one to complain on posting photos on PW. The interface is not exactly easy, but it is not rocket science either. I will try to create a tutorial.

Dry reverb setting plus EQ set to punchy can also help.

I saw the title and came to ask exactly the opposite - why does Garritan sound distant while Pianoteq sounds like playing next to it.

My experience as well. Pianoteq seems very close while Garritan CFX sounds across the room.

To me, Pianoteq is a more cohesive experience while CFX sounds a bit more detached.

One could be better for a recording while another better for a performer.

OK, I have it right now. Garritan should be set to performer's perspective!
