Here is the aforementioned “notice” , a 2-page document that explains how to determine what version a DG30 currently has THEN how to put DG30 into the mode for accepting a newer firmware update file from a USB drive.

7499$ (https://kawaius.com/product/dg30)

I know, the price will be a little bit lower in the stores, but that's all in all a CN39 in different design. Are you serious Kawai?

Interesting; a few years ago whilst considering buying my current, I tried the Yamah digital gramnd, CLP 665 I think it was.
Looked right nice, in the shop window area.
Sounded so like the CLP 535 in which it was based.
No advantage in sound. Hardly any more and you'd get the Kawai GL 10, or the GB 1 from Yamaha.
Might not be the best, but they still sound pretty darned good!.

Thank you very much for helping Petrom714, drewr.

Just to complete the information, here's a news piece outlining the DG30 v1.10 software update, which adds support for the PianoRemote and PiaBookPlayer apps:

Kind regards,

You are very welcome, James.

Being somewhat familiar with the experience of updating firmware on a Kawai, I was happy to try helping a fellow user, ..... who was “mucking around with this on a cloudy day” the last i saw. 😉 .... i did not expect to see you check in during the weekend.

Its been nearly 5 years to the day since i last went through the firmware update procedure; some questions have arisen. Of course if there are already existing threads more suitable, i am happy to redirect there. For everyone uninterested, please skip the recent tech bio below and see the question at the bottom, made easy to find for your luddite-avoiding pleasure 🤪

Back then i still relied on using a PC to browse for zipped firmware then download then uncompress then put onto a suitably formatted thumb drive. Since then i have not touched a PC more than brief moments here and there, mainly because i’ve grown into some of the ease that comes with sitting in a recliner using ipad for simple web connectivity and generally do not need to do things other than basic browsing/email/texting and of course web forums. Ive done well avoiding the apps-out-the-wazoo lifestyle, diligently avoiding use of icloud only when absolutely necessary, and the like. My pads and iphones are generally quiet, they do not buzz, ding, flash or chirp incessantly all day every day ...... but this may soon change as i slowly prepare to learn/use ipad so i can play around with the Roland for audio recording/playback and probably midi too .... there may even be the need for a 2i2 in my future .... and maybe figuring out uploading photographs too a suitable host .... which is why i still own a couple dusty laptops, the most current being an out-of-date Win7 that i might use just in case i get that desperate 😐 ......like,

if i cannot figure out how to use ipad to uncompress a zipped file .... does such, say using ipad 8th gen, v14.4.2, with lightning port AND the “apple camera kit” usb adapter, require much mucking around?

Regards,

-drew

PS. ... speaking of mucking around, how are things going Petrom714?

Were you able to download the zipped file and then unzip/extract the .SYS file[s] and then copy to a FAT or FAT32-formatted thumb drive?

Another important thing: make sure the USB stick is of good provenance, not one of these cheap knock-offs that have a lower capacity than claimed. I could have bricked my ES8 with one or those. Luckily, I was able to restore my ES8 to a working condition using a knowingly good stick.

Thank you, Kawai James.
Bought one today before readings reviews or seeing what the negativos of Piano World had to say about it.
Got enough of the Kawai GX-2 in my townhome and wanted something I can play when I cannot sleep at 2:30AM. It also looks better than the MP11SE would in the same space.
Will leave enough space that I can keep my harp on the same rug.
