Dear all,

This Yamaha G2 sounded great to me. I'm seeking other opinion / comments about it.

Not overly bright for me. Is it how a G2 should sound? Let me know what you think about this G2.

Price is reasonable. And will get a tech to check on it

Thank you.

Tenor and mid-treble sound nice. A couple notes in the treble (6th octave) seem a little short in terms of sustain/tone. My primary concern for the technician to check would be the bass region— the bottom of the compass just isn’t in tune and some of the wound strings sound weird/possibly dead. Would want to check that the unisons that are out here and there aren’t because of loose tuning pins.

How old is the piano? What are they asking? What is your budget?

Hi. It is 35 years old. Seller asking for 7000 USD negotiable. My budget is around 14000 USD ++ which is about price of a BN Hailun 178.

Little late seeing this but I think it sounds real nice. Except as terminaldegree noted, it sounds as some of the bi-chord wound strings sound a bit off. More like the hammer might be twisted and not hitting both strings simultaneously or maybe strings not seated well at the bearing points.

I would buy it but not at the asking price. I would not buy the Hailun.

What did you decide?

Listening a second time to the chromatic scale it sounds like it needs new hammers. I would budget for new hammers in the total cost. I would recommend a pre hung set straight from Yamaha.

I negotiated with the seller with the selling price. As we did not come into an agreement, I did not buy it.

Waiting for next opportunity when one great grand surfaced. Meanwhile, I'm saving up for more options.

Thanks Terminaldegree and WBLynch for the advices. You have good ears. 👍👍
