The interpretations are just different. You can also try to interpret a piece of music. However, try to listen back and see if it really made sense to you. I wouldn't worry too much about getting it "wrong", I think it's more important to gain experience and confidence in trying to communicate your own musical ideas. There is time in the future for refinement. Just make sure to keep an open mind.

I’m using Op 9 No 2 as my example because I’m playing/polishing it now. Thing is, I have played it several ways and always come back to what my heart/soul loves, which is the way Arrau plays it. No, I’m not Arrau, but his way of playing anything, Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven, etc., sounds about perfect to me.

Open minded: Last week, I asked my piano teacher if I was stubborn and difficult to teach, because a friend of mine said I’d be a difficult student to teach….and yes, I told him what my friend had said. He said no, not at all. He said my trouble was in my lack of knowing ‘timing’ and playing a piece as it’s written time wise (he’s totally correct, as I don’t remember much about that when I was taking lessons 50+ yrs ago). And, some of the scale work he’s given me, using a metronome, is way more difficult then I thought.
