I just noticed "Yamaha Artist" in Joseph's signature!
And after poking around a bit online it seems to be a relatively recent occurrence.
This is incredible news!
Congratulations Joseph!

That might be exciting news, but what does it mean exactly? Do they pay a stipend, or give you a free or discounted piano or something? Do they wheel the Yamaha piano off the stage if you say something nice about Kawai?

Joseph, does that mean you are now going to buy a discounted Yamaha piano? What model are you going to get: CX, SX, CF?

Hello and thanks! Yes I signed as a Yamaha artist this week and I’ve been asked, moving forward, to have this stated on all of my social media accounts. Yamaha do not pay artists a stipend and no money changes hands under this agreement.

Information about the perks of being a Yamaha artist is available online, and of course it differs case by case. My needs for example are somewhat different to Elton John’s!

I actually have the same information about discounts that can be looked up online, and it’s on a case by case basis.

The high end models I’ve played are CFX upon which I recorded my Bach album, and the S7X, S6X and S5X. I haven’t yet played a CF6 or CF4. Whichever piano I buy will depend on my circumstances at the time of purchase. I’m not in a position to buy a new piano until after I graduate next year and settle in a more permanent home, but yes my next piano will be a Yamaha and I’ve become somewhat smitten with the sound of the S6X which is no surprise because I loved the previous S6. Of course I’ve played quite a few CFIII and CFIIIS models which were all beautiful.

I am extremely grateful to Yamaha for this opportunity to collaborate with them. It is a great honour for me to be associated with such a prestigious company. I’m grateful to Rich G. for making this introduction and I’m looking forward to working with other colleagues who are Yamaha artists in the near future.

I've always played Yamaha, from my first Yamaha spinet, to the Yamaha U3, and now the Yamaha S7X. But I'm not a Yamaha artist. I'm just a guy who plays Yamaha.

Congratulations, Joe. I wish you well in your music career.

I'm a big fan of Yamaha acoustic pianos as well.

Congratulations Joe.

This was a good choice for you and for Yamaha, IMHO. You have such an informed perspective on instruments, how they each perform, and their relative strengths. We might say you have a well educated “piano palette”.

I truly appreciate an artist who thinks about these things. Not all do, or frankly can. They simply do not have the wide experience that you have had.

With the knowledge you have, it is much more significant that you chose to be affiliated with Yamaha.

Congratulations again, and congratulations to Yamaha for making instruments that an artist of your caliber can appreciate.

I appreciate you saying this Rich, and as I already said to you on the phone and on facebook, thank you for opening this door for me. I'm super excited about the opportunity!

Congratulations, Joe! And if a Yamaha artist is smitten with the S6X, I'm going to move that one high up on my "grands to consider" list.
