Their driver works like magic but they have problems with analog inputs. I googled it and it seems to a common problem with their hw. Just a heads up in case you wanna order an interface also for analog inputs, not just midi.

Here we go again... There are literally dozens of recommendations of the focusrite scarlett interfaces from PW users. Guess who run into problems? The same person who has problems with the new computer, with garritan, with pianoteq, and I probably lost track of some other complains.

Disclaimer: I don't have a focusrite or any other audio interface. But if I ever have to buy one, scarlett 2i2 is at the top of my list based in PW recommendations.

I've used Focusrite gear for decades, and it has always been fantastic. What exactly do you mean "problem with analog inputs"?

There's no signal at all. I tried all possible combinations in the interface and software. Nada.

My Focusrite 2i2 gen3 works like a charm. I've been recording the balanced analog input from my analog synths into it. Very clean and detailed sound with zero noise. That's been the overwhelming opinion about Focusrite interfaces.

This is odd because the input lights up when it's clipped by a signal played. So that means it's a driver bug?

You have to describe your chain, software, etc. You didn't mention what model it is. How do you know there's no signal? Are you recording it and you don't hear it while recording (which requires that you explicitly route the recorded signal back to its output or to the output of another audio interface, e.g. the internal speakers or headphones, which all depends on your system and the DAW you use or recording software). Or you have to enable the monitoring on the interface, so that you hear the input signal directly. Or you have selected the wrong input in your software. There are so many variables here...

Hi Christopher90. I regret to say that I am beyond the point of "I am sorry" with your posts. You come to the PW forum to continuously - and in a very arrogant way - moan, complain, and bash every single product you put your hands on. However, as far as I can tell, you have no one and nothing to blame but yourself and your tendency to never read manuals. "Sorry guys" does not cut it anymore.

Would be best if the title of this thread could be changed. I have used Focusrite 2i2, many of them, in different situations, different generations, and never had any problem. Very compatible also, works on any system. Linux out of the box. I now have a Steinberg because its color matches my piano better smile Also good, but the headphone output is a weaker and barely enough for Garritan CFX with my headphones (MH50).

It's one thing to says "I can't get this &^%@#* thing to work. Please help."

And it's quite another to say "I can't get this &^%@#* thing to work. It's crap. Don't ever buy one."

I am a noob myself, but my first thought is: "this does not work... What have I done wrong?" Is it this difficult to be a bit humble? I am done until the attitude changes.

My first post was complaining about ES110 midi not having the velocity right, which was confirmed in the forum. There's no reason for the default setting to be the way it is.

As a FocusRite 4I4 user and a HEAVY one with the loopback feature, I can't be more satisfied! Except one instant I had a clicky volume knob, which they helped with exchanging, ever since January I haven't had a volume knob that makes sounds. Hopefully it'll hold up for the next few years!

2i2 and 4i4 used here for years with no problems (both analog and midi). Highly recommend Focusrite products.

God Bless,
David

Sorry to break the news to you, but even that was far from confirmed (being that the es110 does not output midi values higher than 70 or 80...). But whatever, if that makes you happy.

I'm still using my first audio interface that i bought in 2012, a focusrite 2i4 1st gen.

It still works like a charm. I do blame it's driver from occasionally crashing my pc, but I'm not sure why that happens sometimes, it might be something entirely different.
