Hello all I've had this problem for years now but lately it's so bad I can't even play it. Hauptwerk Pipe organs gives you a vst audio link ( it has no GUI to adjust in your host except audio outputs etc.) for using it in a host such as Cantabile. When using Hauptwerk Standalone no problems but as soon as I run it in Cantabile the CPU meters both in Hauptwerk and Cantabile redline and the sound is terrible clicks, static and skips unplayable now. Like I said it's only when both programs are on at the same time. I'm running windows 7 still but it's a strong laptop I7 16 GB ram 1000 GB SSD. Any Ideas? Thank you, MooganDavid

I assume your setup is Cantabie 3 with 64 bit VSTlink plugin that receives MIDI from keyboard, sends it to Hauptwerk, and receives generated audio back from Hauptwerk?
One suggestion would be to manually assign CPU cores to them, Windows scheduler is not good, it prefers to overload some cores instead of distributing load more equally.
Does Windows Task Manager show any CPU cores at 100%?

I'd also strongy recommend to ask in Cantabile forum, it is closely monitored by Cantabile developer.

Resource Manager frequency meter is over 100% while playing and the skipping is in time with the monitor but I'm new to all this. Thanks for your reply.

What frequency is your i7, and how many cores does it have?
Also, make sure that your laptop's Power Plan is set to Maximum Performance.

It's a true quad core and this was your reply One suggestion would be to manually assign CPU cores to them) what is them and how would I do that in cantabile or hauptwerk plus I have Cantabile solo 2 and Hauptwerk runs fine Standalone just when I use it with the vst link in cantabile to add strings, etc it starts skipping and audio suffers. Thank you for your help VLADK

Manually assign CPU cores to:
- Cantabile;
- Hauptwerk.

Here is quick guide:
