Hello,

@Ampersand, that is a very interesting development to say the least.

Cheers and happy playing,

If the ES8 is what I think it will be, I may sell my FP90X and just keep the two Kawai’s. We’ll see.

Enjoy your ES110!

Hmm, this doesn’t make sense because the FP90$ is such a state-of-the-art instrument, and it is competitively priced at a meager $2,499.99!

It’s so good, this instrument, that Roland has just gone and increased the price by $300.00; yes, the package (piano/stand/pedal) used to be $2,199.99, but who’s counting when art is at stake!

So yes, you must be crazy, like me, preferring a much cheaper instrument. In my case it’s the outdated P-515 package (piano/stand/pedal) going for 1,704.97. This instrument is so inferior to the Roland that Yamaha has only dared raise its price by $4.98, for you see, it used to cost $1,699.99. How dare you, Yamaha!

P.S.

I just noticed the FP90$ ‘package’ for 2,599.99 @musicians friend! Yes, it just keeps going up, the price, but once again, one shall not put a price on art!

At this rate I may break even if I sell my Roland, if price keeps going up! :-)

Hi ampersand: could you clarify if your preference for the es110 instead of fp90x is due to the sound or the action?

I think I need to clarify.

It's not that I prefer the es110 over fp90x.

It's that I was surprise how responsive the action is and the sound of the es100 is.

So I decided to buy an es8 hoping that it will be an upgrade of the es110 and possibly replace the fp90x.

The fp90x is a really good piano with great action and decent sounds through headphones.

Good for you Ampersand - I used to have a rented ES8 and it is a great instrument.

I have the ES8 and it's a fantastic instrument. Nice sound, very playable "action" and great build quality! I prefer its look over the newer ES920.

To counterbalance all the ES8 praise, IMO it is OK-ish, sound wise and if you can live with the damned highlander clicks.

@ Morten,
Yes, I also find the ES110 to be the most exciting DP I've played because of the action, it is so responsive! I do have some stiffness issues, so having a keybed that plays so easily is a real boon. But even regardless of that, I find the es110 action inspiring.

I also have the ES920, and while it feels more like a 'real' acoustic grand piano, nonetheless I only like its action, but LOVE the action on the es110.

Before I bought the es920, I was wishing for many of the features not found on the es110. I just wish I could have the action from the es110, the speakers and low weight of the es920, and the control surface and guts of the MP7SE. Kawai, are you listening!?
