Without being American I’m exactly the same 😀 I’ve paid almost all my possessions more than the average because I follow the “shut up and take my money!” rule.

I embarrassed to admit that there have been times I paid more for shipping than the actual cost of the item because I didn't want to wait. blush

I just paid $539 for a new Hidrau piano bench that won't be available until sometime in September. I keep checking my email hoping some fluke happens and they (PianoWoks) get it early.

I'm impulsive, impatient, and impractical at times. Not a good combination for financial stewardship. crazy

God Bless,
David

That might have been a bit hyperbolic on my part. But I think with supplies drying up, pricing has also gone up. Whereas we were seeing N1Xs and NV10 for as low as <$7k before, that's no longer the case. If you're lucky enough to find one in stock, they seem to be more in the $8-10k range now, and with much less room to negotiate.

So how many used Digital and Hybrids will be on the market in a few years time? Or will all the folks that brought one actually be learning to play the piano!

Nah it will make a nice piece of furniture to the living room. I jest and I hope not. We need more to take up piano in this crazy society we live in IMHO. It can be very relaxing to sit down and play some tunes laugh

Peace

That would be true if it weren't for the power of the Gospel.

My attitude toward consumerism doesn't impact my ability to serve with patience, humility, and wisdom (praise God!)

I wouldn't have lasted 22 years in pastoral ministry otherwise. If it weren't for a born again, saved by grace through faith, Christian experience, I'd truly be an unpleasant human being to be around.

God Bless,
David

Sorry for the "joke" David, but this was too easy and too good to pass.

I bought the Germany bench like the hidrau. It was cheaper and took 3-4 days from Germany. Love it. I think it is Andexinger.

You guys, I noticed that the NV10S amps are only 130 W; whereas, the NV10 amps are 135 W.

I know we’re not supposed to pay too much attention to specs, but it seems to me that the norm is to either go higher or stay at the same wattage for new models, and considering that there’s now a larger subwoofer to drive, it makes me wonder.

For some perspective, Yamaha added a few more watts to the “X” variant despite not changing speaker size and/or positioning.

Just an observation, that’s all!

Yeah 130W doesn't seem as high as I would expect. My old Clavinova is 160W.

Then again, I never go higher than 50 or 60% volume, so will it make any difference anyway?

Yes, Pete14, it's a poorly equiped instrument; looking at speakers and amplifiers. Compared with my AvantGrand N2: 10 speakers and 12 amplifiers that will generate a massive 380 watt! I can only say:"The N2 still rules"! smile

We generally look at the power amplifier of stereo, for its power consumption, rather than the manufacturer marked the output power.
You'll notice that the power consumption of the NV10/10s is both labeled as 60 watts. That means they're basically the same.

Secondly, for N2/N3, Yamaha did not specify the power consumption in the SPECS, refer to a previous post, I believe its power consumption is also around 60W+. That means all of them is in similar level.

avant grand power consumption?

Not so fast, Zanoni!

Turns out it’s 130W in Euros; which roughly converts into 158.36W in US Wattages.

Besides, we all know the NV10S is the Mac 🖥 of pianos, yet that there N2 of yours is so PC! laugh

robinlb brings up a good point.
If a piano takes in 60 watts average (example: my Clav is rated 68 watts), then it surely cannot average several hundred watts of audio output.

Let's remember that the average audio power output is not far above zero. It hits high power output only very intermittently.

The manufacturer's rated output represents a MAXIMUM under certain specified (or unspecified frown ) conditions.
So the data given above ...
NV10S . . .130 watts
NV10 . . . 135 watts
N2 . . . . 380 watts

... is quite irrelevant because:
1. You'll likely never encounter those conditions.
2. You've ignored speaker efficiency.
3. You've ignore speaker placement.

AvantGrand power consumption?

Using an 'electricity usage monitor' shows the following readings of my N2. Played with speakers: 0.46,3 kWh. Played only with headphones: 0.36,1 kWh.

@Zanoni: What kind of electricity usage monitor did you employ?

If it measures energy consumption (as implied by the kWh unit of measure) then you need to specify the time interval of the measurement.

I looked again. The display shows these numbers with only speakers: 045.4 w. And only with headphones 035.8 w.
