Rarely at 50% off.

Check out the NAMM 2014 and 2015 videos for an idea of how this sounds.

8 days to go...

IMHO one of the best piano VSTs offers of last months. I hope this means there are other great offerings from VI Labs in the make. Modern U is just amazing. I compare it to my U3H and is very convincing.

Which will be the next?. A CFX?. A Bösendorfer?. A Fazioli?

I agree! What's more -- the library size is quite small for them, yet the detail offered is quite admirable. One of the first VSTs I purchased back when I joined PW.

A C7! One that is at least as extremely well done as Modern U. This is what I'd hope for 😋.

Cheers and happy VI dreams,

Yes a c7 would be nice. I haven't been impressed with a virtual c7 so far, but a real c7 i played once really impressed me.

would also love to see some of the usual suspects (cfx steinway imperial) from vi labs, or maybe a nice grotrian steinweg.

Anybody here who uses this with a Mac laptop, without any DAW? How are your experiences?

I don't have Ravenscroft, but I do have the TrueKeys German Grand from VILabs and use the standalone player with my Mac Mini and it works well.

To record I use an application called AudioHijack that intercepts the audio output from the standalone player on the mac mini and saves to disk.

I could if I wanted to have the audio from the mac mini go into my MP11SE on the line in and use the USB stick for audio recording. But AudioHijack keeps things simpler for me and I think from a recording perspective using it reduces the risk of adding noise.

Exactly the same with me, no interesting virtual C7 at all and an incredibly sweet experience with a 25-year old actual C7 in such a fine condition. Space, money and personal situation allowing, I would have bought the latter on the spot.

Cheers and happy C7 wishes,

This does make sense, and if this means they're spending that much time and care to create the quality they do, so be it and lots of respect for that.

But, secretly, I'd hope for a little earlier 🤔. That amazingly well done C7, of course 😍.

Cheers and happy anticipation,

HZ

Oh me too!

This c7 i played was at a piano dealer in Amsterdam. The fallboard was closed, while on other piano's they were open. It was on a upstairs room and i had the place alone and the piano was so wonderful, it was instant love, and i had a blast playing it. I also played some other piano's but none were as good as this c7.

When i went back downstairs all enthousiastic i expressed my feelings about it to the sales lady, and she told me the fallboard was closed because the piano was already sold. eek So i think it was probably just perfectly regulated. It was so easy to play, like it played itself.

😀 I already wondered whether we might be talking about the exact same actual instrument. "Mine" was in the basement floor of a dealer in Wezep, The Netherlands.

The (rather competent) piano technician was regulating the action of a Steinway that was right next to it. He let me play both pianos, lids wide open, and we chatted about the differences, the causes of those differences and so on. All in all a very educational and memorable experience.

Cheers and happy dreams of one day... in our little castles... with huge orangeries attached... and a splendid C7 and ditto double bass ready to play inside...

It would be difficult for me not to buy whatever piano VI Labs decides to sample next. They've done such a good job with the Modern U. The Ravenscroft was good, but I think they really perfected the secret sauce in the Modern U.

God Bless,
David
