Oh dear. Talk about getting some fiber in your diet. I suppose the felt/wool does come from animals, so it's made out of protein, but I don't know how digestible it is for animals other than moths.

Unfortunately that is nowhere near true as animals synthesise proteins as well as plants, and also so do fungi and bacteria etc. so, where does that leave us humans?

so, where does that leave us humans? Indeed. I guess this is veering further OT, but the ribosome, which is the cellular machinery that makes proteins, is truly ancient in its origin, dating back to the last universal common ancestor of all organisms on our planet. Our most fundamental understanding of how the ribosome works comes from research done in bacteria (E coli) and later in yeast. I’m not sure exactly where that leaves us humans, other than to be glad we haven’t lost our ribosomes! We’d be in big, big trouble if we couldn’t make proteins!

That's not how it works at all. Our body has the ability to create the Non-essential amino-acids FROM essential amino acids. We do not make any of the essential amino acids. ALL of it originate in plants. Even if you're eating meat, you're just getting second hand protein, in a semi-toxic package.
100% of all amino acids come from plants, animals do not make the monomers, what we can do with half of it is recycle amino acids.

I never said we don't make proteins, I said all protein originate in plants. Proteins are just arrangements of the Essential and non-essential amino acids. There are 20 or 22 amino acids depending on who you ask that become all the different proteins.
Humans are Herbivores
