Hello!

My wife is in the market for a grand piano so we went to go check out a few locally. We saw a Yamaha GP1 that we were interested in but found the strangest thing inside the piano. I'm not sure if it's oxidation, rust, or something else?

Has anyone seen this before and should we stay clear of this piano?

It looks like some liquid sprayed on there, but they cleaned it up in the places that were easy to reach.

I agree, something got sprayed around and it has corroded the strings and finishes. Someone cleaned the strings where they could get at them. Maybe there was a skylight nearby and the window washing caused this.

I thought it looked like someone opened a can of Soda near the Piano, to be honest!
