I've not seen this discussed-- the resonance piano seemd to be an amplified wooden soundboard based speaker to which you connect the line outs of your digital piano:

That is all I know about it.

Horizontal is €15,616, vertical is €14,640. I don't know if those are negotiable list prices or firm prices.

I have no idea how they sound. A Kawai CA99 would be much cheaper than the vertical above plus DP or midi controller and VST.

Hmmm ... so you buy a digital, add a $19,000 grand-shaped enclosure with a soundboard, plug it all in ... and you have a simulated grand digital piano.

Or ... couldn't you just buy a grand piano? It'd probably work better and sound better, eh?

In the description it was the words QUALIFIED SOUND EXPERTS (all capitalized) that really won me over.

Interesting. Nice to see efforts to develop musical instruments in new directions, hopefully for the better, but not something for me.

The idea of decoupling components to upgrade independently has alot of appeal, but not at the stated cost.

Would that which separates the hammers from the strings, the strings from the soundboard, the soundboard from your ears be so easily replicated? The sound generation process of a piano is a wonderful thing from start to finish.
Once in a while you detect this from a TV commercial, or whilst noodling on a decent grand in the flesh; it's palbable. And usually expensive. . . .

I object to how the pedals are connected with nothing (but a flimsy cable).

It's a play on transducer speaker boards, but it's in the wrong shape.

The acoustic piano shape that works with "the strings" does not produce the same resonance when used with transducers.

Making it in that shape is fundamentally flawed and lazy engineering, not to mention it looks stupid and inelegant with a slab sticking out of it.

I'm not so sure, but I'm inclined to agree.

If the claim is that a transducer on a soundboard can faithfully reproduce a grand piano's strings on a soundboard ...
... that's like saying that because my house key can open my front door, I should expect a similar key to open a box of corn flakes.

Analogy: It's like taking the chassis of a gasoline car, and putting electric motors in it.

The chassis shape should be designed from the grounds up, the optimal shape should look NOTHING like a grand piano.
